Camouflage. When sitting idly, Tripping Stones appear no different from normal rocks. When a Tripping Stone rolls initiative, however, this disguise disappears and the rock becomes obviously active and magical. A creature can expend an action to investigate a disguised Tripping Stone, attempting a DC 15 Wisdom (Perception) check and seeing through the disguise on a success. If a creature's Passive Perception is 18 or higher they automatically pass this check, immediately noticing the faint magical aura around the Tripping Stone.
Stone Body. When the Tripping Stone takes damage from a source that deals less than 10 hit points of damage to it, it takes 0 damage instead. Psychic damage bypasses this threshold.
Teleport. The Tripping Stone instantly teleports to any location within 30 feet of it. A Tripping Stone can attempt to teleport above a creature's head, forcing that creature to make a DC 13 Constitution saving throw or take 1 bludgeoning damage.
Bonk. When a creature attempts to make a melee attack against a Tripping Stone but misses, the Tripping Stone can expend its reaction to use its Teleport ability, appearing directly above the attacker's head. The attacker has disadvantage on its saving throw.
Trip. When a creature within 30 feet of a Tripping Stone moves using their Walking Speed, the Tripping Stone can expend its reaction to teleport directly below their feet. The creature must make a DC 13 Dexterity saving throw or it falls Prone.
Description
Stones, the natural creations of the earth, are often disrespected. Trodden on, destroyed, used as weapons, and taken for the foundations of structures—consideration is rarely given towards these paragons of tolerance, who take the abuse and ignorance thrown their way in stride.
As time passes, however, some stones find their patience worn thin. These rocks develop a sentience and a magical aptitude, overcoming their inability to move with teleportation. Their surfaces develop a crude smile, as if a child had drawn a smiley face on the rock with marker, and the stones seek out revenge.
Tripping Stones seek to inconvenience others as much as possible. They rarely kill others—knocking them unconscious if the stones must fight back—and delight in tripping unsuspecting travellers on well-worn paths.

Posted Oct 1, 2022Updated to include Camouflage, as their complete lack of stealth seemed a bit odd! Also, I reduced their Dexterity scores to 1 (as they are completely unable to move w/o teleporting) and slightly upped their Damage Threshold for maximum annoyance. Finally, I reworded the reactions to fix a few grammar mistakes and make the abilities more clear.
