Traits

Legendary Resistance (3/Day). If the dragon fails a saving throw, it can choose to succeed instead.

Plasma Sickness. If a creature takes any amount of plasma damage they make a constitution save DC 22 if failed they deal half damage with magic weapons and spell attacks for 1 minute. They may repeat the save at the start of each of their turns.

Plasma Damage. The breath weapon of the Purple Dragon is known as Plasma Breath. When a creature is damaged by plasma damage it will retain deadly burns with long-lasting effects. After being damaged by plasma the afflicted creature must roll a constitution save DC 21, if failed they become vulnerable to all damages except for psychic and thunder damage. The burn of Plasma is so intense not even its wielder can withstand a point-blank blast of it.

Actions

Multiattack. The Purple Dragon can make 3 attacks, 2 with its claws and one with its bite or one of its breath weapons if it can.

Claw. Melee Weapon Attack: +19 to hit, reach 10 ft., 1 target. Hit: 28 (3d12 + 10) Slashing damage.

Bite. MeleeWeapon Attack: +19 to hit, reach 10 ft., 1 target. Hit: 26 (4d8 + 10) Piercing Damage as well as 19 (3d6 + 10) Plasma damage.

Tail. Melee Weapon Attack: +19 to hit, reach 20 ft., one target. Hit: 19 (2d8 + 10)  Bludgeoning damage.

Frightful Presence. Each creature of the dragon's choice that is within 120 feet of the dragon and aware of it must succeed on a DC 21 Wisdom saving throw or become frightened for 1 minute. A creature can repeat the saving throw at the end of each of its turns, ending the effect on itself on a success. If a creature's saving throw is successful or the effect ends for it, the creature is immune to the dragon's Frightful Presence for the next 24 hours

Plasma Breath. (Recharges 5-6): Each creature within a 10 by 120-foot line makes a dexterity save DC 22, if failed they take 108 (18d12) Plasma damage, or half as much if succeeded.

Blinding Breath. (Recharges 4-5): Each creature within a 5 by 60-foot line makes a constitution save DC 23, if failed they become blinded for 10 minutes and take 30 (10d6) Plasma damage, or 1 minute blinded and half as much damage if succeeded. All other creatures that can see the Purple dragon make a constitution save DC 20, if failed they become blinded for 1 minute. At the beginning of a blinded creature's turn they may repeat the save to attempt to no longer be blinded.

Bonus Actions

Reflective Scales. (Recharges 2-3): As a bonus action the Purple dragon may choose to cause its sales to reflect light causing it to become completely invisible. While invisible the dragon automatically succeeds any stealth checks and is under the effects of Half-cover, this effect lasts for 1 hour or until it is damaged or makes an attack.

Reactions

Chaos Warp (Recharges 2-3). The dragon chooses a place within sight and teleports to that area.

Legendary Actions

The dragon can take 3 legendary actions, choosing from the options below. Only one legendary action option can be used at a time and only at the end of another creature's turn. The dragon regains spent legendary actions at the start of its turn.

Detect. The dragon makes a Wisdom (Perception) check.

Tail Attack. The dragon makes a tail attack.

Wing Attack (Costs 2 Actions). The dragon beats its wings. Each creature within 15 feet of the dragon must succeed on a DC 25 Dexterity saving throw or take 17 (2d6 + 10) bludgeoning damage and be knocked prone. The dragon can then fly up to half its flying speed.

Flash Bang (Costs 2 Actions). The Purple dragon lets out one quick blast of concentrated plasma into the air, each creature who can see it makes a constitution save DC 20, if failed they become blind until the end of their next turn.

Description

The Purple dragon is characterized by its ability to slip through crowds of people without being noticed. Special padding on its feet makes it nearly unheard and reflective scales make it invisible as well as having malleable bones to allow it to easily bend its shape to maneuver around things without touching them. These creatures make the most hardened and fearless hunter's hair stand on end. This dragon is the embodiment of pure evil. Although it is smaller than its chromatic sisters, it is considered to be the apex predator of dragons as has no restrictions in its diet so it will cannibalize other dragons and their eggs and with a breath weapon that no known create is immune to it easily has the facilities to. Specifically red dragons it likes to go for, the reason likely being its immunity to the highly intense breath weapon of it or the fact that it is much smaller than red dragons making it ego inflation, it could also be the fact they yield more meat or they like the gold in their lairs

Lair and Lair Actions

Lair Actions

On initiative count 20 (losing initiative ties), the Ancient Purple Dragon takes a lair action to cause one of the following effects; the Ancient Purple Dragon can’t use the same effect two rounds in a row:

  • Mirror Walls: For the next 5 minutes when a player would make a ranged attack and would miss the projectile hits the walls, and roll a d6, on a 1-3 the projectile returns to the player and deals full damage, on a 4-6 the projectile misses.
  • Plasma Geyser: The DM chooses 3 tiles on the map that contain hidden traps. When a player would step over a trapped tile they make a dexterity save DC 21. If failed they take 40 (10d8) Plasma damage. The tile recharges after 3 rounds.
  • Gravity Well: The dragon selects an area on the map, the air condenses in that area causing all creatures within 200 feet of it to make a strength save DC 22. If failed they are pulled to the selected tile if succeeded they are pulled to a halfway point between the selected tile and where they were.

Regional Effects

The region containing a legendary Ancient Purple Dragon’s lair is warped by the power of the Ancient Purple Dragon, which creates one or more of the following effects:

  • Electrical storms are common within 10 miles of the Ancient Purple Dragon's lair.
  • Warped gravity often causes headaches and dizziness within 1 mile of the Ancient Purple Dragon's lair.
  • Water sources within 100 miles of the Ancient Purple Dragon's lair taste of metal.

If the Ancient Purple Dragon dies, these effects fade over the course of 3d12 days.
