Traits

Flyby. When the astalos takes off for flight, there is no attack of opportunity

Electrical. When in its charged state, any melee weapons that conduct electricity that make contact with the Astalos’ skin will take half damage, and knock the user prone 10 feet behind them, taking 12 bludgeoning damage if they hit a wall or structure. If the user does not succeed on a DC11 constitution saving throw, the weapon they were using will also be knocked 10 feet out of their hands in a random direction.

Targeted Aggression. The astalos targets the last opponent that rolled a nat20 or critical hit on the Astalos

Siege Monster. The astalos deals double damage to structures and objects (including constructs)

Actions

Multiattack. The astalos uses 2 claw attacks, then it can use a tail attack or enter it’s charged state, Cooldown (3 turns).

Claw. Reach 12ft, D12 (+8) to hit. The astalos raises either of its wings (whichever is most convenient) and punches the ground in an area near the target. The target must succeed on a D14 dexterity saving throw (D17 if in charged state) or be knocked prone 10 ft in any direction, taking 16 bludgeoning damage on a failed save and half as much on a successful one. If the Astalos is in its charged state, there is an electrical charge in a 6 foot radius of the attack, dealing 8 additional electric damage on a failed save or half as much on a successful one.

Pindown. The Astalos targets one large or smaller creature in front of it. The astalos lunges up to 15 feet in front of it. The impact alone deals 19 bludgeoning damage (D12+ 10 to hit), and if the initial impact lands, the target is grappled. the astalos makes multiple bites at the neck and head of a creature, in total dealing 18 damage piercing damage. Saving throws can not help you. After the attack, the grapple ends, (Cooldown 2 turns).

Bite. The astalos targets one large or smaller creature it can see up to 10 feet, it charges at them and lands a light bite attack dealing 13 piercing damage (D12 + 8 to hit). This attack can be completely avoided on a DC15 dexterity saving throw.

Tail. (D12 + 10 to hit) The Astalos rolls a perception, if it succeeds on a 12 or over, it targets a medium or smaller creature 8 feet behind or to the side of it. Unless the target succeeds on a D15 dexterity saving throw, The astalos uses its insect tail to grapple and restrain the target. The target cannot be free unless the astalos takes 12+ slashing damage on the tail. If the astalos is in its charged state, the target takes a continuous 6 lightning damage on both the start of its turn and the astalos’ turn. If the astalos is flying, the attack can reach up to its flying speed, and any saving throws made against the attack are ignored.

Thunderball. The astalos changes direction to a target, and exhales a perfect ball of green electricity many times its head size, with an 8 foot radius, in front of it, which moves up to 60 ft before it dissipates. Any creature caught in the range of the ball must succeed on a DC16 dexterity saving throw, or take 16 lightning damage on a failed save, or half as much on a successful one. Targets become paralyzed on a failed save, and at least one is targeted by the Astalos on its next turn (temporarily ignoring the “Targeted Aggression” trait)

Crash down. If the Astalos is flying AND in its charged state, the Astalos can crash down fist-first in any direction and use up to 8 claw attacks, moving 5 feet with each one.

Crater Creator. If the Astalos is flying, it can crash down onto any target it can see within its flight speed, dealing 20 bludgeoning damage on impact, however, leaving an attack of opportunity for all creatures with in walk/running distance. If the astalos is also charged, the impact adds a 20 foot radius of green electric energy dealing an additional 20 lightning damage to any creature immediately in said radius.

Reactions

Charge up. The astalos enters its charged state for the next 10 turns, however, this leaves an attack of opportunity and skips the astalos’ next turn.

Description

The Astalos is an insectoid dragon with the power of control over lightning. It’s aggressive nature never ceases to end, going against creatures ten fold its size. Even though this may not seem wise, it is a very calculated creature, knowing most of the weak points of their opponents and what to do next.
