Traits

Balam's command. When Balam targets only one creature with the attacks of her Multiattack, she can choose one ally it can see within 30 feet. That ally can use its reaction to make one melee attack against a target of its choice.

Fiendish Blessing. The AC of Balam includes her Charisma bonus.

Innate Spellcasting. Balam's spellcasting ability is Charisma (spell save DC 17). The cambion can innately cast the following spells, requiring no material components:

At will: flame blade, alter self, command, detect magic, Ashardalon's stride

1/day: fire whip (3pp)

Shapechanger. Balam can use a bonus action to take on one of the following forms: a great eagle, a legged serpent, and a horned bear. Each of these forms uses its own hit points, abilities, and stats. When the form is reduced to 0 hit points, Balam is returned to her base form and takes the difference in damage. If a form Balam is in is reduced to 0 hit points, she cannot turn into that form until she has a long rest.

Actions

Multiattack. Balam uses Abyssal Fire Ray twice.

Abyssal Fire Ray. Ranged Spell Attack: +9 to hit, range 120 ft., one target. Hit: 10 (3d6) fire damage, and the target is engulfed on black-tinged flames. While engulfed in such flames, the target takes 3 (1d6) fire damage at the start of each of their turns and gains vulnerability to fire damage. The target can make a DC 17 dexterity save at the start of each of their turns, ending the burn on a success.

Fiendish Charm. One humanoid Balam can see within 30 feet of it must succeed on a DC 17 Wisdom saving throw or be magically charmed for 1 day. The charmed target obeys Balam's spoken commands. If the target suffers any harm from Balam or another creature or receives a suicidal command from Balam, the target can repeat the saving throw, ending the effect on itself on a success. If a target's saving throw is successful, or if the effect ends for it, the creature is immune to Balam's Fiendish Charm for the next 24 hours.

Bonus Actions

Villain actions:

Round 1: Form of the Eagle. Balam transforms into her eagle form.

When Eagle is Defeated: Form of the Serpent. Balam transforms into her many-legged serpent form.

When serpent is defeated: Form of the Bear. Balam transforms into her horned bear form.

When Bear is defeated: Last Stand. Balam wreathes herself in black-tinged fire and unleashes a destructive pulse (as destructive wave, DC 17 con save). She loses 7 (2d6) hit points per round, but any creature that attacks her in melee takes the same amount of damage she took from this trait.

End of Round: Balam can do one of the following:
- use multiattack with one of her forms.
- move and attack with one of her forms.
