Vulnerability to Remove Curse. The Remove Curse has the same effect as Banishment. The skinrider is driven to the deep ethereal for a number of days equal to the level of the Spellcaster +1d20.

Affected by Holy Water. Holy Water affects the skinrider as an acid attack against which it has no immunity. If used against a possessed body, the host body also takes the damage.

Ethereal Invisibility. The skinrider is effectively invisible. Any attacks against it are made at disadvantage* unless the attacker has True Seeing or See Invisibility  *NOTE: The attacker will auto-miss if they declare they are attacking in the wrong direction/square to where the skinrider is. An attacker helped by a person who can see the skinrider may direct the attacker to the proper direction.

Singular Victim. When the skinrider attacks one target via Infest, they may only attack that target with further attacks of Opress and Possess. If they attack another target with Infest then any previous target becomes free of any further effects from Infestation, Oppression, or Possession.

Actions

Infest.  One target within 15 ft. must make a Wisdom Saving Throw vs DC 13 or take 1d4 necrotic damage in the form of mysterious cuts and bruises, sunken eyes, aches, bleeding, etc. The target is infested for the next 24 hours while the skinrider is in the same plane of existence.

Oppress.  One target already infested within 30 ft. must make a Wisdom Saving Throw vs DC 13 or be subjected to a psychokinetic attack that can move the target upto 30 ft in one direction. If the target hits another object then they suffer 2d6 force damage.

The skinrider may choose to throw the target against other creatures. In that case they must make a ranged attack at +4. If the attack hits then both creatures take half the 2d6 force damage. 

The target is infested and oppressed for the next 24 hours while the skinrider is in the same plane of existence.

Possess. An oppressed  or previously possessed target in the last 24 hours within 60 ft may be possessed if they fail a Wisdom Saving Throw vs DC 13. At the end of every round thereafter the PC may make a Saving Throw to regain control. Every failure results in a cumulative -1 on the next attempt*. On any Natural 1 or adjusted 1 result, the PC loses control for 1d6 days.  *NOTE: If subjected to a Protection from Evil spell or aura, the cumulative -1 effect may be ignored.

Once possessed the PC essentially becomes incapacitated. The skinrider may control the body's physical capabilities as if it were their own.

If the body is killed/destroyed the skinrider is returned to the ethereal.

A possessed body may be TURNED by a cleric. The skinrider must make a WISDOM Saving Throw or be TURNED. The possession is immediately released. The skinrider is TURNED for 10 rounds. A turned creature must spend its turns trying to move as far away from the cleric as it can, and it can’t willingly move to a space within 30 feet of the cleric. It also can’t take reactions. For its action, it can use only the Dash action or try to escape from an effect that prevents it from moving. If there’s nowhere to move, the creature can use the Dodge action.

 

 

Bonus Actions

Thaumaturgy. As a bonus action, the skinrider may create a thaumaturgy effect within 30 ft of any oppressed target.

 

Description

The Skinrider is a malevolent ghost of inhuman origin that may possess mortal bodies. The skinrider has no visible form and when viewed with See Invisible or True Seeing, it simply appears as a dark entity that is not necessarily humanoid.
