Description
Angler ant workers are angler ant soldiers without the growing nutrient sacs on their heads. They are territorial and defensive and rarely leave the hive. They spend their lives digging elaborate networks to grow the hive. In larger open spaces, they will collect rocks and cement them together with regurgitated acidic paste. Through this rudimentary process, they can construct elaborate bridges, towers, and hive defenses that act as if they were made of solid stone. When they near the end of their life, they secrete a mucus which eventually digests them and converts them into another, larger nutrient sac which can further feed the colony.
Angler ants chemically react to water as if it were acid and dissolve relatively quickly if immersed. A splash of water does 1d4 damage and if immersed in water they take 2d8 damage per round.
Lair and Lair Actions
In an angler ant's hive, it gets advantage on attacks if it is within 10 feet of another angler ant.
Consume. The angler ant consumes a nutrient sac within five feet of it. The sac disappears and they regain up to half of their maximum hit points.
