Acid Bomb (Recharge 5). The angler queen launches a nutrient sac within 60 feet of her. It explodes on landing, spraying acid in a sphere of radius 15 feet. Each creature in that radius must make a DC 13 Dexterity saving throw, taking 10 (3d6) acid damage on a failed save, or half as much damage on a successful one.
Hive Command. The angler queen controls her hive telepathically. Angler ants within 120 feet can take a total of one movement and one action.
Mass Hive Command. The angler queen controls her hive telepathically. Three angler ants within 120 feet can take one movement and one action each.
Consume. The angler queen heals herself with a portion of her stored nutrient sacs. She heals up to half of her maximum hit points but all attacks against her have advantage until the start of her next turn.
Description
The angler queen is an engorged, almost unrecognizable version of the angler ant soldier. She does not have an exoskeleton, but instead a soft, lumpy body mostly filled with nutrient sacs. Occasionally, she regurgitates a whole nutrient sac with hundreds of little white eggs suspended inside. Within a week, these will hatch into new angler ants which then feed on the nutrients in which they were laid. The queen controls her hive telepathically, with instinct and basic intelligence supporting operations outside of her immediate vicinity. The queen can live for half a century; only in the last few years of her life will she produce new queen eggs: one in each sac, which are taken by soldiers and distributed as far as they can travel to form new colonies. When she dies, if there is still a queen egg within her colony then it will be tended to until a new queen inherits the original colony; otherwise, the colony will disperse.
Angler ants chemically react to water as if it were acid and dissolve relatively quickly if immersed.A splash of water does 1d4 damage and if immersed in water they take 2d8 damage per round.
Lair and Lair Actions
