Swarm. The swarm can occupy another creature's space and vice versa, and the swarm can move through any opening large enough for a Tiny insect. The swarm can't regain hit points or gain temporary hit points from creatures other than itself.
Sticky limbs. The bonewelder swarm can climb difficult surfaces, including upside down on ceilings, without needing to make an ability check.
Re-knit flesh. The bonewelder swarm can choose not to damage an undead creature with its swarm attack. When the bonewelder swarm occupies an undead creature's space at the end of the swarm's turn, it can repair 1d4 points of damage on that creature. The swarm can use its swarm repair on itself if it does not move for 1 round.
Gnashing mandibles. Melee Weapon Attack: +3 to hit, reach 0 ft., one target in the swarm's space. Hit: 7 (2d6) piercing damage, or 3 (1d6) piercing damage if the swarm has half of its hit points or fewer.
Gruesome proliferation. If the bonewelder swarm occupies the space of a medium or larger creature's corpse, it can use its action to devour the body, creating another bonewelder swarm within 5 feet of the corpse. This new swarm has hitpoints equal to half of the the original swarm's current hitpoints.
Description
Bonewelders are bizarre amalgamations of various species of insect and fragments of human bone. Though little is known of how they are created, necromancers make effective use of the critters, who have a propensity for repairing the bones and flesh of undead creatures, keeping their flawed and rotting bodies functioning throughout combat. Unlike most necromantic creations, bonewelders seem to be capable of reproducing on their own, as they are seen eviscerating corpses and constructing new members out of the bone and viscera.
