Description
Champions are older warriors who have proven their superior skill in battle but who lack the ability to lead whole armies. On rare occasions they're tasked with leading regiments of unloaded warriors in the hope that their experience will rub off on the impressionable aspirants. As their station demands it, the armour and weapons of a champion are often more ornate and impressive than their peers. The heavier armour is more protective as well as singling them out for their rival champions to duel them. In battles with varags of similar rank, ahtal-rab have had to adapt their tactics due to dishonourable varags not playing by the strict duelling rules, the ahtal-rab are used to. This change in attitude has led to champions being increasingly brutal when they fight varag champions as a point of principle.
