Posted Feb 16, 2020I think this is pretty good, though a bit weak in my opinion. This is one of the Lords of the Abyss, one of the most recognized and strongest as well. Number one, he was way too few hit points. He has almost exactly half those of an Ancient Red Dragon, shouldn't an immortal, god-like being be harder to kill than that? The Tarrasque has nearly 700 and is meant for a party of incredibly high level, and from things I have heard a 20th level party doesn't have much problem anyways. Should they be able to just wipe the floor with the demonic Lord of Beasts? Number two, you didn't give him any damage resistances or immunities, which bewilders me as much as the health. A powerful demon, like a Balor, (which only has 8 fewer hit points) has resistance to cold, lightning, and all physical magical attacks, as well as being immune to fire and poison. Someone like Baphomet, in my opinion, should be immune to all physical attacks that are not magical, and have resistance to all elemental damage and either resistance or immunity to necrotic. Really the only things that shouldn't be resisted are the really rare ones like thunder, force, psychic, and radiant. Number three is that you list something like being able to vomit unholy water, yet there is no attack of that, a missed opportunity. The last couple are nit-picks, I think his Con should be 30 with how monstrous and tough he is shown to be, his charisma should probably at least be a 20 since he is the leader of a demonic layer and the prince of all demon beasts. Personally, I also think his bite should do some sort of poison or acid, maybe necrotic since so many beasts are poisonous and if you imagine getting bitten by a Demon Lord then that's pretty nasty. Lastly, I think Dominate Beast should be at will for him since he is the Prince of Beasts, or at least give him where beasts have disadvantage on attacks against him, or maybe they auto-fail Dominate Beast against him. That is all however, I apologize if it seems harsh or too much, just giving constructive criticism. I think the rest is great, his armor class is the same as an ancient red dragon, so good enough. Having great intimidation and perception is good for him, and Truesight matches with his god-like status. Really if you wanted you could just put that he speaks all languages, he is a demon lord after all, and also you could list that he is constantly under the effect of Speak with Animals as a flavor piece. All the damages are good I think, maybe a slight increase since it seems to be on par with the Tarrasque but not necessary. Charge is good, the recall fits, legendary resistances of course. Magic resistance is great for him, and the Barbarian Reckless ability super fits so good job. Yeah, that's all I got. Great job, just missed the key resistances and immunities and the health. Really if you put the resistances and greatly buffed his health it would be good enough I think. Anyways, thanks for posting this to the public, not always easy to share things I know. Continue the good work and have a great day!
