Amphibious. The Eurypterid can breathe air and water.
Multiattack. The Eurypterid makes three attacks: two with its claws and one with its sting.
Claw. Melee Weapon Attack: +4 to hit, reach 15 ft., one target. Hit: 10 (2d8 + 2) bludgeoning damage, and the target is grappled (escape DC 12). The Eurypterid has two claws, each of which can grapple only one target.
Sting. Melee Weapon Attack: +4 to hit, reach 10 ft., one creature. Hit: 35 (3d20 + 6) piercing/electrical damage, and the target must make a DC 12 Constitution saving throw, taking 5 (2d4) poison damage on a failed save, or half as much damage on a successful one.
Bite. Melee Weapon Attack: +6 to hit, reach 5 ft., one creature. Hit: 49 (4d20+12) piercing damage, and the target must make a DC 12 Constitution saving throw, taking 19 (4d8) Necrotic damage on a failed save, the creature gains the damage it gives its opponent. If a nat 1 is rolled, the full hp of the creature's opponent is also reduced, but this can be fixed by a successful constitution reroll as an action on the opponent's turn.
Description
The Vail's Eurypterid is a huge Arthropod, it looks very similar to a scorpion, but is extremely different. They are very dangerous and shockingly intelligent creatures, so intelligent in fact, they have been proven capable of learning languages. Although incapable of speaking any language, it is still quite a remarkable characteristic. Another thing about the Vail's Eurypterid is while they are typically solitary, they can be found in groups of thousands. The Eurypterids are much more aquatic than they are terrestrial, although they do fine on land, they are way more dangerous underwater. The Vail's Eurypterid reaches up to 50ft in length and averages at 10 tons. If this information wasn't scary enough these creatures, given several generations, produce a Queen. What one person would notice about the Vail eurypterid is its beautiful blue exoskeleton, which is rare to find among animals the Vail's Eurypterid is an exception to this rarity, they also have massive, sharp, red mandibles, it's hard to tell how many creatures this thing may have killed especially since its mouth is the same color as its victim's blood. Each of its four appendages that the Vails Eurypterid uses to move about has flippers that allow the creature to swim very effectively. It also has a large tail fan, this fan has 6 sharp spikes, these are what the Eurypterid uses to sting. The good news is these creatures don't usually bother messing with a player character unless provoked since most are too small to be its prey. However, these creatures do have a concept of friendship and are even somewhat tameable, if you attack a Vail's Eurypterid friend you are at risk of that Eurypterid going out of its way to kill you. Those who have had experience handling a Vail's Eurypterid will know that the key is to strategize and never fight one alone. This can give a very unique opportunity for using intelligence rolls.
