Repellent Armour. Any ranged attack which rolls a 10 or lower to hit against this creature can invoke this trait. The Armavelocita rolls 1d8, on a 6 or 7 the projectile is reflected, forcing the caster to make a DEX save to avoid the projectile. The creature the projectile is reflected towards has resistance against this reflected attack.
Primal Targeting. When the Armavelocita makes a Fanged Gnash attack it can use both it's bonus action and regular action to target the closest hostile creature to it, specifically targeting a limb of your choice (leg or arm or other similar appendage). If the target creature’s organs are revealed to the Armavelocita due to the effects of it’s poison, you can target one of those instead. This attack gains advantage and will crit on a natural 18,19 or 20. If you deal more than 25 damage with this attack then the limb is dismembered and the Armavelocita eats it, healing for 2d4 hit points + it's CON modifier. The Armavelocita now has a taste for that creature's blood and cannot attack any other creatures apart from that creature - but gains an extra 1d4 damage in all attacks against it. This effect is ended if the target drops to 0 hit points, or moves more than 150 ft from the Armavelocita
Fanged Gnash. The Armavelocita launches itself at the target, it's huge lower fangs acting as hooks to grapple it's target. Melee Weapon Attack: +5 to hit, reach 5 ft, Hit: (4d6 + 3) piercing damage. Upon a hit, the target is grappled and will continue to take 1d4 piercing damage each turn the grapple remains unbroken. During their turn, the target creature can use their action to make a CON saving throw of DC 17 in an attempt to break the grapple. The grappled creature is poisoned until the end of their next turn in combat, and the timer resets for every turn the Armavelocita remains grappled.
Quilled Tailpiece. The Armavelocita Flicks it's tail viciously in the direction of a target creature, a spray of acid quills fling in group towards the target. The target makes a DEX save of DC 16. On a fail the creature takes full damage and is poisoned until the end of it's second turn after this attack hits, on a success they take half as much damage and no poison is applied. Ranged Weapon Attack: +5 to hit, range 10/130 ft, Hit: (3d6 + 4) piercing damage, and (1d6 +2) acid damage. This attack has disadvantage at a range any further than 40ft.
Rejuvenating Quills. At the start of it's turn the Armavelocita can use it's bonus action to retract it's quills into it's body until the beginning of it's next turn. The Armavelocita heals for 6d10+6 hitpoints, but has it's armour class reduced by 2, cannot use reactions until the quills return and it's attacks deal half as much damage and do not invoke it's poison effects. The Armavelocita also cannot use it's ranged attack during this process. When it's quills return at the beginning of it's next turn it gains advantage on it's next attack roll but, if it already had advantage on that attack, you instead gain 1d10 bludgeoning damage added to the attack.
Armour Crushing Parry. As a reaction, when a hostile creature misses an attack roll against this creature, it can choose to roll 1d12, if it rolls an 8 or higher then the attack is parried, the hostile creature falls prone and is grappled to the floor by the Armavelocita. The Armavelocita can then make a Fanged Gnash attack against the creature and if they deal more than 20 damage with the attack then the creature's armour is partly broken, reducing their armour class by 2.
Description
A passage from an encounter with an Armavelocita;
"This beetle-like creature has a long, mosquito like body - clad with metal plating. It features a spiked helmet strapped to it’s head with A huge spike pointing forwards and a spike pointing backwards from the head guard atop it’s scaly, burnt sienna skull. This skull appears to have 4 eyes, two on each side of it’s head, coloured in yellow like the sunlight itself. It’s armour plated back features many smooth, yet dangerous, metal spikes but a saddle rests atop for a rider to sit. It’s rear end features two tail-like structures which point outward towards the space behind it, armoured up to near the end where the creature's red and orange skin shows. Attached to this open skin are a series of quills on the creature's tails, obviously a deadly weapon. As green liquid drips from the end of a few of the quills you notice this beast’s legs. It features six legs, with its front two sets equivalent to giant ant-like legs, almost metallic in their structure despite being obviously biological. However, it’s rear set of legs are completely different - a set of powerful raptor-like legs, full of muscle and clad in the signature sienna scales which cover the rest of the exposed features of this armoured creature. On the end of each leg is a metal foot, featuring mechanical claws which twitch and squeak as pistons and cogs inside move, almost like suspension has been given to an animal."
