Description
As the Blood Moon fell, so did the menacing Heralds and their legion of writhing worms. A blight upon the land, these worms squirm their way in to the corpses of the recently deceased and raise them as mindless zombies capable of mass destruction. Immediately multiplying inside the bodies of their host - changing their dead husks in to incubation chambers to spread to more hosts. These resilient undead have frightening speed and bloodlust. They are some of the more heinous fiends that walk these scarred lands, and feed on the life force of the living, leaving even more undead in their wake.
Some blood zombies become bloated with disease and bile, their frenzied state pushing them to rush other living creatures, explode, and spread their horrid infection of crimson worms.
Psychotic Frenzy. Unlike typical zombies, which are ponderous and lumbering stalkers, a blood zombie races quickly toward its prey, eager to tear flesh from bone. Each kill it makes drives it into a fighting frenzy, during which it howls with delight. It doesn’t feed on those it kills, but rather leaves the corpses to rot so it can be infected by a worm. Humanoids killed by a blood zombie become blood zombies themselves, rising quickly to join their slayer in merry carnage.
Undead Nature. A blood zombie doesn’t require air, food, drink, or sleep.
