Multiattack. Yig uses his Spit Venom attack twice or any other attack option once.

Actions

Slam. Melee Weapon Attack: +8 to hit, reach 10 ft., 1 target. Hit: 4D12 + 4 bludgeoning damage.

Spit Venom. Ranged Weapon Attack: +8 to hit, range 10/30 ft., 1 target. Hit: 2D8 Acid damage. A target that is hit must also make a DC16 Constitution saving throw or be poisoned for 1D4 rounds. Once the effect of poison has worn off you are immune to the venom effect for 24 hours but not the initial damage. This does not stack.

Serpent's Tongue. Yig makes eye contact with one target he can see within 40ft and forces it to make a DC15 Wisdom saving throw. On a failure the target succumbs to whims of the serpent and views Yig as its father to be protected at all costs. On a failure there is no effect, but if Yig takes this action against the same target again the saving throw is made at disadvantage. The saving throw can be repeated at disadvantage at the end of each of the afflicted's turns or ends when they become unscious or have a lesser restoration or higher spell used on them.

Summon Children [5 & 6]. Yig, Father of Serpents summons 1D4 swarms of snakes to a random location within 60ft of his location. Each swarm has AC15, HP25, Speed 20ft, and acts directly after Yig in initiative order. Each swarm makes an attack roll against the nearest enemy. Melee attack +4 to hit, dealing 2D6 piercing damage on a hit.

Legendary Actions

Yig, Father of Serpents has 3 legendary actions it can use at the end of another creature's turn.

legendary resistance. (3/Day) If Yig fails a saving throw, he can instead choose to succeed.

Father's Rage. (1 Action) When a swarm of snakes that has been summoned by Yig is slain in his lair, Yig becomes enraged and immediately makes one Spit Venom attack at the creature who slew the swarm of snakes.

Cobra's Coil. (3 actions) Yig makes an attack roll against one target within 10ft of it. On a success Yig wrap his tail around the target grappling them and lifting the target 10ft in the air. It now occupies the same space as Yig. On its turn the target can make a contested strength check against Yig to break free. Whilst grappled by Yig, if Yig is hit by a ranged attack or ranged spell, it can use its reaction to move the grappled creature in the way forcing them to take the damage.

Description

Yig, Father of Serpents is a being from ancient times. Worshipped eons ago he has now become content to slumber in the confines of his temple with his family. With body and head of a black and green speckled snake and the arms of a man, Yig is a torturous creation that any sane individual would decry a blasphemy.

Eyes of burning yellow sit deep in the recesses of his face and a forked tongue black as coal flicks out to taste the fetid air of his lair. A single row or raised scales along his back looks like a crest adorning the back of the ancient creature. Capable of lightning fast speed, this hulking giant is a creature that many believe never existed but those that do, know to fear and above all respect his children.

Lair and Lair Actions

Deep in the forgotten swamps a temple to a long forgotten god sits askew slowing descending into the rancid waters below. In the warm stagnant conditions a huge swarm of Serpents' has made this their home, unbeknownst to all, something else has also decided being close to his family is the most important thing...

Yig's lair is filled with his children in various states consciousness. When one of Yig's children dies the others consume the corpse for sustenance and such have no need to leave their home.

Lair Actions

On initiative count 20 (losing initiative ties), Yig, Father of Serpents takes a lair action to cause one of the following effects; Yig, Father of Serpents can’t use the same effect two rounds in a row:

  • Viper walls. The walls writhe with snakes as Yig's children lash out at any intruders. Anybody within 10ft of a vertical surface must make a DC14 dexterity saving thow or take 2D6 piercing damage.
  • Venomous underfoot. The floor of Yig's lair suddenly floods with venomous liquid and forces all those on the ground that are not a serpent to make a DC14 constitution saving throw or take 1D8 acid damage
  • Constriction from above. One randomly determined individual is subjected to a large serpent dropping on them from above and wrapping itself around them. The target must make a DC14 strength saving throw or become grappled. If still grappled at the end of their next turn the snake will bit the grappled creature for 2D6 piercing damage each turn they are still grappled with no attack roll needed.
