Gaze of Cadence. At the start of each of its turns, the cadence chooses which direction it is looking in, affecting a 30-foot cone. Unless they avert their gaze, creatures within that cone immediately lose immunity to the effects of the Frightful Presence, Luring Song, or Song of Oblivion of other creatures at the start of their turn. Blinded creatures are immune to the cadence’s gaze.
Multiattack. The cadence uses its Rhythm Pulse and makes three claw attacks.
Claws. Melee Weapon Attack: +7 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 11 (2d6 + 4) slashing damage.
Rhythm Pulse. The cadence emanates the pulsing rhythm at its heart from its throat. Each creature within 20 feet of it must make a DC 14 Wisdom saving throw or become frightened of the cadence until the end of its next turn. This fright does not interfere with an affected creature’s ability to move towards its allies under the effects of a Luring Song or Song of Oblivion. A creature that succeeds on this save is immune to the cadence’s Rhythm Pulse for 24 hours.
Description
A cadence is a large, quadrupedal creature covered in crimson-and-brown plumage, including its wings which spread from its front shoulders. The cadence’s four legs and tail are those of a bird, with sharp talons. However, upon the cadence’s long neck, the head is that of a serene woman, whose eyes are beady and dark, face as white as snow. She has no hair, as feathers appear at the edges of her face and grow in intensity til they reach the neck and fully cover the body. Cadences hunt alongside harpies. When the cadence finds prey, it emanates a rhythm that resides in its heart from its throat and telepathically through its gaze to frighten its meal and weaken its mental barriers to its harpy allies’ songs.
