Description
Wendigo
The spirit of winter, selfishness, and endless hunger, the wendigo is a force of nature that exists in the cold areas of the world for the sole purpose of sating its hunger. The wendigo manifests in the world by corrupting those who venture into the cold and starve, driving them to cannibalism. When and individual does this, they become cursed to become a wendigo, growing more powerful the longer they live and transforming, physically, to what we know it to look like. Standing between 8 to 9 feet tall, they are slender to the point of looking emaciated and have permeating scent of rot and decay that can be smelled yards away. A wendigo's presence also causes the area to drop in temperature and possibly even start a snowstorm if the wendigo is powerful enough. The final feature to come about as they grow in power from age is the growth of antlers and their face becoming like that of a deer skull.
Wendigo Curse
When the spirit of the wendigo or a living wendigo sets its sights on an individual to corrupt, they curse them, making them hunger neverendingly and only the taste of humanoid flesh will sate that hunger, although only momentarily. If the individual eats the flesh of a humanoid, the curse takes permanent hold and turns the cursed into a wendigo, where it will change over time as it feeds into a full-fledged wendigo.
Cursed Spawn
Those that succumb to the wendigo's curse become wendigo spawn, beings tormented with hunger and driven mad by it. They will search for anything they can find to eat, even humanoids, who they will kill at the first opportunity as their hunger drives them to consume humanoid flesh the most. As they feed on humanoid flesh, they will change faster, growing taller, and more emaciated, their skull changing and growing antlers, their hands sprouting claws, and teeth growing sharper. Many spawns stay near a fully realized wendigo until they develop before they go out to seek their territory or they risk being killed and eaten by the reigning wendigo.
Winter Spirit
The wendigo is infused with cold magic, chilling the area around them and even creating snowstorms by merely being in the area. They thrive in snowy forests, icy mountains, and even tundra, hunting down those that wander into their territory.
