Description
(Monster originally created for the AD&D adventure "Temple of Ra Accursed By Set", written by Thomas and Edward McCloud. Adapted and reimagined by Vox Rockem The Anxious Thief)
A frightening visage glides down: head of a gorgon, body of a dragonne, wings of a red dragon, hooves of a minotaur, tail of a giant scorpion and four arachnid arms clawing the air with the talons of a hippogriff. This foul conglomerate makes even the most abhorrent chimera look like a common, natural beast.
While raiding long-forgotten desert tombs in search of treasure, those who come too close might meet the gaze of a gorgriffspidrascorp, known by some as the Guardians of Set. The legend speaks of a long lost temple dedicated to the Sun God Ra which was struck by the hand of Ra's nemesis, the God of Destruction, Set, who filled every room of the building with traps and ill monsters. In the deepest room of the Temple, the god placed down the first gorgriffspidrascorp of its kind, named Quab. Powerful and mad sorcerers would try to replicate the feat of Set, few coming to success. Those who managed, whoever, had the single most loyal monstrosity at their command.
Soldier of Destruction. The gorgriffspidrascorp's most lethal feature is its mind; like a sapient golem, i only answers its master. It does not fear and does not respect, keeping its duty as sacred, preferring to fight to death than to disobey. Not that it believes himself to die: immortality is another of its tributes seemingly given just to mock the very concept of life.
