Description
Shilo Grifther is a former member of the nobility. He was swindled out of his titles and lands in a card game by an unscrupulous cheater. Now Shilo plays to win back a fortune so he can finally confront the man who cheated him all those years ago. The next time Shilo sits across a gaming table from his nemesis, he will not be cheated.
Shilo has always had a knack for games of chance. He can count cards with ease, run the odds on a bet in a moment, and with a few leading questions he can read others’ tells like they were children’s books. It's a useful talent, and one that Shilo is perfectly willing to use to his advantage.
Shilo knows how to take advantage of the greed and desperation of others. Common sense should steer people away from things that sound too good to be true, but common sense seems to be in short supply when Shilo is around. Whether sitting at the high roller table at the most upscale casino in town, or playing in a back room bar game, Shilo knows how to come out a winner, or at least how to keep the bookies at bay long enough to pay them back.
Shilo can play many games of chance, but his favorite hustle is cards, something he can count. He travels from city to city, game to game, always looking for the next big score, the next tournament, the next pot. Shilo can always find a game, even in cities where gambling is illegal. He is able to identify other gamblers by their descriptions, and knows a little about any such gambler, including their name and reputation, and any big wins they have recently had. Shilo can find the taverns and halls where gamblers abide in any area, as long as he speaks the language. Shilo earns enough money gambling to maintain a comfortable lifestyle.
