Traits

Shapechanger. The werebear can use its action to polymorph into a Huge bear-humanoid hybrid or into a Huge cave bear, or back into its true form, which is humanoid. Its statistics, other than its size and AC, are the same in each form. Any equipment it is wearing or carrying isn't transformed. It reverts to its true form if it dies.

Keen Smell. The werebear has advantage on Wisdom (Perception) checks that rely on smell.

Spellcasting. The werebear is a 12th-level spellcaster. Its spellcasting ability is Wisdom (DC 17, +9 to hit with spell attacks). It has the following druid spells prepared:

Cantrips (at will): guidance, mending, produce flame, thorn whip

1st level (4 slots): charm person, cure wounds, entangle, faerie fire

2nd level (3 slots): lesser restoration, pass without a trace, spike growth

3rd level (3 slots): conjure animals, dispel magic, plant growth

4th level (3 slots): blight, conjure woodland beings, dominate monster

5th level (2 slots): conjure elemental, greater restoration

6th level (1 slot): conjure fey, heal

Ceaseless Growth.  At the start of each of its turns, the werebear regains 10 hit points if it is on the ground and has no more than half its hit points left. It does not gain this benefit if it has 0 hit points or has taken fire damage since its last turn.

One with Nature. The werebear can speak with animals and plants.

Actions

Multiattack. In bear form, the werebear makes three claw attacks. In humanoid form, it makes three greatclub attacks. In hybrid form, it can attack like a bear or a humanoid. In bear or hybrid form, it can forego two of these attacks to make a bite attack.

Bite (Bear or Hybrid Form Only). Melee Weapon Attack: +10 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 15 (3d10 + 6) piercing damage. If the target is a humanoid, it must succeed on a DC 16 Constitution saving throw or be cursed with werebear lycanthropy.

Claw (Bear or Hybrid Form Only). Melee Weapon Attack: +10 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 13 (3d8 + 6) slashing damage.

Greatclub (Humanoid or Hybrid Form Only). Melee Weapon Attack: +7 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 10 (2d12 + 6) bludgeoning damage.

Thunderous Roar (Recharge 5-6, Bear of Hybrid Form Only). The werebear roars, causing the earth to tremble around it. Any creature within 30 feet of the werebear that is on the ground makes a DC 17 Constitution saving throw. On a failure, the creature takes 18 (3d12) thunder damage and is knocked prone. On a success, the creature takes half that damage and is not knocked prone.

Description

Werebears walk a dangerous line, even for a lycanthrope: their curse is the mildest of all, yet the beast that inhabits them has the greatest capacity for destruction. Most werebears seek the solitude of nature, doing their best to temper and control their curse, but a few seek a complete understanding and mastery of the beast within them, and those who turn to the Old Faith for such guidance may become a woodspeaker.

One with their nature and environment, woodspeakers refuse the notion that their lycanthropy is an affliction at all, reconciling beast with man and undergoing a radical transformation in the process. The gentle giants of the woods, they act as sentinels and teachers, taking on apprentices to the arts of healing and nature magic, and even passing on their enlightened wisdom to other lycanthropes.
