Description

A dangerous carnivorous pack hunter, the Blink Horror's form resembles that of a Blink Dog but with a blue exoskeleton, dark muddy yellow fur, long pronounced whiskers, and gray eyes. Most noticeable is its two large front bone legs that end in curved hooks.

Cavern Vultures. The Blink Horrors hunt in groups, searching for any creature they could overpower. Typically, a Blink Horror is always on the move, stopping to rest near water sources only long enough to rehydrate and rest up, and only if a predator doesn't lie nearby. Like vultures, Blink Horrors are fine with feasting on rotting carcasses and if they spot a fight between two creatures of appropriate size, they will wait until one becomes victorious and then ambush the creature in its weakened state.

Echos of Bone. The Blink Horror communicates much the same as a Hook Horror except a couple differences. They can sense noise vibrations with their whiskers as well as their ears and since their hooks are on their feet, it acts as a homing beacon to other creatures. Therefore, a Blink Horror has to be stealthily stalk while traveling or risk giving away its location to other creatures, especially other Hook Horrors and Blink Horrors. When entering combat, much discordant noise is made from the fighting, signaling to other Blink Horrors that a fight is breaking out. This could mean a second wave appears, given the language Hook Horror traverses can carry for miles, adding a third party to the fray and giving the unfortunate victim an opportunity to escape.

Frankenstein Origin. The Blink Horror was created by a mad drow sorcerer named Eldor Kilsek, who was attempting to create a stronger Blink Dog by combining it with different species. Kilsek grew fond of the amalgamation that was a Blink Dog combined with a Hook Horror and let it roam free in the underdark. The Blink Horror has grew in numbers since then, forgetting the traits that made it a Blink Dog and instead fully embracing an animalistic alignment of survival.
