Description
(Creature originated from the first edition Fiend Folio. Adapted into fifth edition by Vox Rockem The Anxious Thief.)
From atop the trees something falls, shaking the ground. Shaggy, brown over a bulk body with sharp claws. Pure ferocity displays on its ape face, while it gnarls with its dagger like teeth. Its eyes glow red, like the blood flowing through down your headless neck.
Insane sorcerers created owlbears. Insane sorcerers who did not give thought on their own safety created gorilla beard. These monstrosities now set in the wild are the result of a magical crossbreeding and merging of two distinct species: the gorilla, a type of large, imposing black ape, and the species of bears. Typically, the species most used by sorcerers on the creation of this creature were black bears, giving the gorilla bear its jet-black fur. Uncommonly, brown bear fusion variants can be encountered, having the same territorial tendencies of its bear half. Exemplar members of this monster's kind stand 8 feet tall while weighing almost 1,700 pounds. The eyes are pure crimson like ruby, but legends tell of white furred gorilla bears with glowing amethyst eyes: the oldest and strongest of all gorilla bears, the Mighty Gorilla Bears.
Brute Hunters. Gorilla bears are relentless hunters, navigating among the trees in search for prey. Once ot locates a target. It drops down and fights until its death. It makes use of a specific attack to easily end their prey: its grabs them between its arms, crushing their bones while gnashing their head with its fangs. Faking death might be one's only way of survival, as the gorilla bear releases its prey once it stops reacting. Not much time to react, however, as the gorilla bear's next step will be to dilarecate the creature's body into multiple pieces, dragging them back to its lair.
Prey Preference. Gorilla bears will often first the smallest or weakest looking prey. Goblins, kobolds, halflings and skinny elves are its favorites.
