Traits
  • Ink Cloud. As a bonus action, the beldon can release a cloud of ink in a 20-foot radius centered on itself. The cloud spreads around corners and heavily obscures the area for 1 minute or until a wind of moderate or greater speed (at least 10 miles per hour) disperses it.

  • Mind Blast. Once per day, the cerebric squid can emit a psychic blast in a 15-foot cone. Each creature in that area must make a DC 13 Intelligence saving throw, taking 16 (3d10) psychic damage on a failed save, or half as much damage on a successful one.

  • Unusual Nature. The beldon does not require air.

Actions
  • Tentacle. Melee Weapon Attack: +4 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 7 (2d4 + 2) bludgeoning damage. If the target is a creature, it must succeed on a DC 13 Wisdom saving throw or be stunned until the end of the beldon's next turn.

  • Mind Control. The beldon targets one creature it can see within 60 feet of it. The target must succeed on a DC 13 Intelligence saving throw or be charmed by the beldon for 1 hour or until the beldon harms the target. The charmed target is under the beldon's control and can be commanded to take actions using a bonus action on the beldon's turn. The beldon can have up to three creatures charmed at a time.

Description

The beldon is a brain-like creature with a squid-like body. It has eight long, slimy tentacles and a bulbous head that houses its oversized brain. Its body is a mottled pinkish-purple color, and its eyes are large and unblinking. The beldon is a vicious predator that preys on any creature it can catch, using its ink cloud and mind blast to disable its prey before attacking with its tentacles. It also has the ability to charm creatures and control their actions, making it a dangerous foe to face.
