Desalination. Pelican Aarakocras can drink saltwater.

Actions

Bite. The Pelican Aarakocra makes a bite attack. This attack does 2d6 piercing damage.

Swallow. The Pelican Aarakocra makes one bite attack against a tiny target. If the attack hits, the target is swallowed, and the grapple ends. The swallowed target is blinded and restrained, it has total cover against attacks and other effects outside the pelican aarakocra, and it takes 10 (3d6) acid damage at the start of each of the pelican Aarakocra’s turns. The pelican Aarakocra can have only one target swallowed at a time. If the aarakocra dies, a swallowed creature is no longer restrained by it and can escape from the corpse, exiting prone.

Scimitar. The Pelican aarakocra pirate captain slashes with their scimitar. Reach is 6 foot. Deals 3d6 slashing damage.

Flint lock pistol. The Pelican aarakocra pirate captain uses their pistol to attack an enemy. The range is 30-120 feet, and after usage, takes one full load to reload. Roll a 1d10 to see if it misfires-on a 5 or lower, it is a misfire. 6 or above is a successful shot. After this, roll a 1d20 to see if it hits as usual. If the shot connects, it deals 3d10 piercing damage and 1d4 fire damage.

Reactions

Parry. The Seagull Aarakocra captain adds 2 to its AC against one melee attack that would hit it. To do so, the captain must see the attacker and be wielding a melee weapon.

Description

Pelican Aarakocra live in both the elemental plane of water and the elemental plane of air, as well as the oceans and seas of the multiverse. Like other seabird Aarakocra, Pelican Aarakocra serve as intermediaries between the two planes of air and water when necessary, but most prefer to just live their lives without worrying about elemental squabbles.

Highly social, Pelican Aarakocra congregate in villages and towns of hundreds of their kind, electing a mayor to rule over them and their affairs. They often cooperate or live with Seagull and other seabird Aarakocra, and when they do, the pelican Aarakocra are the ruling class.

Pelican Aarakocra live through a violent childhood. When they are hatched, they kill their siblings until only one remains, and the parents raise the winner. This only happens once per brood, so children born later aren’t in danger of being killed by an older sibling. As a result, Pelican Aarakocra are militaristic in nature, not evil, or good.

Pelican Aarakocra pirates tend to join together with lesser Aarakocra they can bully, such as gannet, penguin, or seagull Aarakocra. These pirates are bloodthirsty and cruel, but commanded by a capable captain. Pelican Aarakocra pirates tend to only follow pelican Aarakocra pirate captains, as they only respect strength, but a suitably intelligent seagull pirate captain can command their respect as well.

A pelican Aarakocra pirate captain commands respect from others of his kind through the utmost cruelty, cunning, and raw power. A Captain like this commits atrocities unblinkingly for the sake of power and wealth.
