Description

A monstrous cross between giant Barn owl and sun bear, an owlbear’s reputation for ferocity and aggression makes it one of the most feared predators of the wild. It has it's avian parent's heart shaped face and the white V on the chest of his Ursidae's side.

The Barn owlbear difers from his kind by it's predding techniques. It will stalk a group of humanoids and learn the sounds they make to call each other. When one of them separates for the group, it will kill it and then mimic it's voice to lure the others to the corpse. The Barn owlbear don't understand what the words mean and may say uncoherent things he heard while lurking to lure his next preys.

The Barn owlbear leave the corpse of his first victim on display at the bottom of a three or under the framework of a tall building where he'll climb to fall onto the poor souls who will come to rescue the apparently agonizing prey. The high ceilings of the barns and the ease to lure someone in there alone makes it one of their favorite hunting ground. Hence their name.

Once it has gathered enough preys to it's liking, the Owlbear clean it's food from the bones using his beak and claws, then swallows the best pieces into it's gizzard a sort of larger second stomach acting like a storage pouch. When hungry, the owlbear will regurgirate the morsels and eat them normally, this way thy may spend multiple weeks only on their past hunt's stock.
