Traits

Amphibious. The Axolotl is able to breathe both air and water. The Axolotl will only regenerate hit points naturally while submersed in water

Arcane Origins. The mysterious Axolotl's arcane origins grants it one spell slot of its owner's highest level

Androgynous Appeal. The Axolotl's uniquely appealing appearance grants it advantage on all persuasion and performance rolls

Aquatic aptitude. The axolotl yearns for water. It's desire to keep hydrated results in it's owner being required to carry around a container of clean water, of adequate depth and width for the axolotl to fit comfortably, at all times. While the axolotl is hydrated (the axolotl is considered after having taken a short rest within water; and remains hydrated for 4 hours) it gains 1 d6 temporary hit points. It's owner can role after every short rest, or simply choose the average roll plus one (3+1).

Actions

Cast Spell. As an action the Axolotl may cast any one spell it's owner knows, and has prepared

Frolic. Time to cast: 1 minute. As an action the Axolotl can prance playfully, granting 1 pc of it's choice an inspiration die (1d4). If not used the inspiration fades after a long rest

Bonus Actions

Blink. As a bonus action the Axolotl may teleport anywhere within 15 feet of itself, or 30 feet of it's owner

Reactions

Defensive Blink. As a reaction the Axolotl may teleport back to it's owner within 120 feet, to any container of water on their person large enough for the Axolotl to fit snuggly

Description

Axolotls posses a caudal fin extending from behind their head to their vent. They posses large black eyes, appearing as extruded dots upon their wide faces. Three pairs of external stalks originate from the backs of their heads, allowing them to breathe under water.
