Water Breathing: The Guardian can only breathe underwater, but can store up to 1 hour of water in special sacs within its body when traveling on land.

Corrupted Soul: The Guardian has been corrupted by the Shadowed Lands, and emits a dark energy around it.  Any creature that starts its turn within 10 ft. of The Guardian must make a DC 16 CON save.  The creature takes 1d8 necrotic damage on a failed save, and half as much on a successful one.

Multi-Attack: The Guardian makes 3 tentacle attacks, and 1 toss attack on any creature it has grappled.

Tentacle: Melee Weapon Attack: +8 to hit, reach 20 ft., 1 target.  On Hit: 10 (1d6 + 5) bludgeoning damage.  The target must make a DC 14 DEX save or be grappled (escape DC 16).  Until the grapple ends, the target is restrained.  The Guardian has eight tentacles, each of which can grapple one target.

Toss: (if The Guardian has a large or smaller creature or object grappled) The Guardian tosses a grappled creature or object up to 160 ft. away in a direction of its choice.  The tossed creature takes (2d6) bludgeoning damage upon stopping.  If the tossed creature hits a wall or another creature or object, it instead takes (2d10) bludgeoning damage (total damage is split if the obstacle is a creature), and becomes prone.

Bonus Actions

Corrupted Ichor (once every 4 rounds): The Guardian produces a thick cloud of ichor that fills a 30 foot radius around it.  Any creature except for The Guardian that starts or ends its turn within the cloud must succeed a DC 15 CON save or gain the corrupted trait for 1d6 turns.  This trait causes 2d6 necrotic damage at the beginning of each of the afflicted creature's turns.

Additionally, all attacks made against The guardian will be at disadvantage if any of the below conditions are true, and magic missile spells are disrupted if they pass through the cloud:

  • The attacker is inside the ichor cloud.
  • The attacker is outside the ichor cloud, but is firing through the ichor cloud (magic or otherwise).
  • The Guardian is inside the ichor cloud.

Description

A massive pseudopod of gargantuan proportions.  The Guardian used to be human before it fell to the corruption of the Shadowed Lands, and its body twisted and deformed.  Its entire body resembles that of a giant octopus or squid.
