Traits

Magic Resistance. The hag has advantage on saving throws against spells and other magical effects.

Actions

Multiattack. The hag makes two Bleeding Claw attacks. It can replace one attack with a use of Blood Loss.

Bleeding Claw. Melee Weapon Attack: +5 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 11 (2d8 + 2) slashing damage. If the target is a creature, it must succeed on a DC 14 Constitution saving throw or become wounded for 1 hour. While wounded, a creature takes 5 (2d4) necrotic damage at the end of each of their turns unless they used an action to hold the wound closed. If this damage would reduce the target to 0 hit points, the target bleeds out and dies. The wound can only be healed by a lesser restoration spell or similar magical effects.

Blood Loss. The hag targets one creature that it can see within 60 feet of it. The target must make a DC 14 Constitution saving throw, taking 10 (4d4) necrotic damage on a failed save, or half as much on a successful one. If the target is wounded by the hag's Bleeding Claw, the target takes an additional 10 (4d4) necrotic damage, regardless if it failed or succeeded on the saving throw.

Spellcasting. The hag casts one of the following spells, requiring no material components and using Charisma as the spellcasting ability (spell save DC 14):

At will: disguise self

1/day each: dispel magic, Invisibility

Description

Blood hags are hags that have been corrupted by the power of the abyss. Their fingers end in long sharp claws that can easily inflict mortal wounds.

Blood hags often worship or create pacts with Juiblex, using the power they obtain to further their own goals. A coven of blood hags may sacrifice blood to Juiblex, transforming the blood into oozes such as oblex spawns. An oblex created in this way can communicate telepathically with the coven and will obey the coven's orders until it reaches adulthood. Some oblexes may form a bond with the coven and will still serve them after reaching adulthood, although they are not forced to.

Coven Abilities

If the hag is in a coven, it gains access to the Acidic Blood trait. If it is also within 30 feet of both of its other coven members, the hag also gains access to the Coven Spellcasting action. A blood hag that is in a coven has a challenge rating of 8 (3,900 XP).

Acidic Blood. A creature that hits the hag with a melee attack while within 5 feet of it takes 3 (1d6) acid damage. Any nonmagical weapon made of metal or wood that hits the hag corrodes. After dealing damage, the weapon takes a permanent and cumulative −1 penalty to damage rolls. If its penalty drops to −5, the weapon is destroyed.

Coven Spellcasting. The hag casts one of the following spells, using Charisma as the spellcasting ability (spell save DC 14). All three hags in the coven must share the spell charges among themselves:

2/day each: bestow curse, hold person, lightning bolt, locate object, polymorph

1/day each: contact other plane, eyebite, scrying
