Innate Spellcasting. The vaati's innate spellcasting ability is Intelligence (save DC 16, +8 to hit with spell attacks). It can innately cast the following spells, requiring no material components:
- At will: detect magic, gust of wind
- 3/day each: lightning bolt, wind walk, wind wall
- 1/day each: conjure elemental (air elemental only), gaseous form, invisibility, control weather
Magic Weapons. The vaati's weapon attacks are magical.
Wind Duke. While on the Elemental Plane of Air, a creature with a Fly speed that makes an attack against the vaati must attempt a DC 16 Wisdom saving throw. On a failure, the attack fails and the action is wasted.
Multiattack. The vaati makes two attacks with its scimitar or two attacks with its longbow, then uses its Gale ability if available.
Scimitar. Melee Weapon Attack: +11 to hit, reach 10 ft., one target. Hit: 15 (2d8+6) slashing damage, plus 7 (2d6) cold, lightning, or thunder damage (the vaati's choice)
Longbow. Ranged Weapon Attack: +11 to hit, range 150/600 ft., one target. Hit: 17 (2d10+6) piercing damage, plus 7 (2d6) cold, lightning, or thunder damage (the vaati's choice).
Gale (Recharge 5-6). Each creature within 30 ft. of the vaati must succeed on a DC 16 Strength saving throw or take 27 (6d8) bludgeoning damage and be pushed 30 ft. away from the vaati and be knocked prone. On a successful save, the damage is halved, and the creature is pushed 15 ft. instead and isn't knocked prone.
Description
Vaati were androgynous humanoids with ebony skin and white eyes. They had muscular builds, yet smooth skin, and on average grew to be 7 feet (2.1 meters) tall. Their hair was velvety and black, but they would usually shave it closely.
Vaati seldom wore clothing, with the exception of belts and harnesses to carry equipment or weaponry.
