Multiattack. The ashigaru makes two melee attacks.
Inspired Bravery. The ashigaru gains a +1 to attack and damage rolls whenever there is a samurai within 30 feet.
Yari (Spear). Melee Weapon Attack: +4 to hit, reach 10 ft., one target. Hit: 7 (1d8 + 2) piercing damage
Rally. The ashigaru can use its bonus action to shout a rallying cry, giving up to five other friendly creatures within 30 feet that can hear it temporary hit points equal to 1d10+2. If a Samurai is within range and can see the ashigaru, the temporary hit points granted by this ability are increased by the Samurai's Charisma modifier (minimum of 1). The ashigaru can't use this ability again until it completes a short or long rest.
Parry. The ashigaru adds 1 to its AC against one melee attack that would hit it. To do so, the ashigaru must see the attacker and be wielding a melee weapon.
Disarmed Retreat. If the ashigaru is disarmed, it can Disengage and immediately move 15 ft. as a reaction if it succeeds on an Athletics check 1d20+4 (DC 10). If the ashigaru fails the Athletics check, it trips and falls, gaining the Prone condition.
Description
Ashigaru are foot soldiers in Kozakura and Wa, usually conscripts or peasant levies rather than trained warriors. They are equipped with simple weapons such as the yari (a spear), and wear leather armor. Despite their lack of formal training, ashigaru can be surprisingly effective in battle when working together in a large group.
An ashigaru is proficient with any armor, weapons, and tools included in its stat block.
