Description

Benjamin Hollow, once a peasant from a long-lost village, stumbled upon the Shadow Court as a young man. They promised him eternal life and youth in exchange for a sacrifice, which he provided by offering his entire village, including his own husband and family, to the Court. With a taste of their power, Hollow set out on a path of wealth and power.

As a pirate, he sailed the seas, stealing loot and murdering innocents to fuel his ambition. Eventually, he turned to industrialization, seeking to generate more wealth for himself. He landed in Bowerstone, where he quickly got rid of the current king and sent the Prince to the Shadow Court, declaring himself the new king. The city fell into chaos, but Hollow was too preoccupied with his own power to care.

He became friends with a necromancer named Navear, and together they agreed to become partnered lords of all Albion. In the midst of his rise to power, Hollow even adopted a child, Malakai Septithium, but the child's fate remains unknown as he disappeared under mysterious circumstances.

Currently, Hollow is enjoying the wealth he has accumulated, but he remains ever watchful of threats to his power. The Shadow Court remains a constant presence in his life, and he provides them with a sacrifice every thousand years to maintain his eternal youth. But as rumors spread about his pact with the Court and Malakai's disappearance, Hollow grows increasingly paranoid and desperate to maintain his hold on power.

Hollow is a lover of the finer things in life, and he takes great pride in acquiring them through his own cleverness. Even after decades of successful heists and cons, he remains hungry for more, always seeking to outdo himself and reach greater heights of wealth and power.

The Shadow Court is a secretive and enigmatic group of beings that dwell in the shadows, shrouded in mystery and darkness. They are ancient beings, older than the oldest civilizations, and their true nature and motives are unknown to all but themselves.

They are said to be the lords of darkness, able to manipulate shadows and darkness to their will. Some say they are demons, others believe them to be undead creatures or beings from other dimensions.

Those who seek to make a deal with the Shadow Court must be prepared to offer a high price, for their services are not cheap. But those who make a deal with them are said to be granted power and knowledge beyond mortal comprehension.

It is said that the Shadow Court will only reveal itself to those who seek it out in the darkest of nights, and only to those who have proven themselves worthy of their attention. Their methods are often cruel and their tests are rigorous, but those who pass them are granted access to the secrets of the shadows.

Whether Benjamin Hollow truly made a deal with the Shadow Court or not is unknown, but their influence and power over him is undeniable. The question remains: what did he offer them in return for his powers and eternal youth?

Lair and Lair Actions

Benjamin Hollow's Manor House is a grand and imposing structure, surrounded by well-manicured gardens and tall hedges. The exterior is made of dark stone, with sharp, angular lines and spires that reach towards the sky. The front entrance is guarded by two stone statues of fierce-looking beasts.

Inside, the grand foyer is adorned with intricate woodwork and fine tapestries, with a crystal chandelier hanging from the high ceiling. The walls are lined with ornate paintings and intricate carvings, while marble columns flank the grand staircase leading to the upper floors.

Summon Allies. Benjamin Hollow is not one to fight alone. As a Lair Action, he can summon his loyal henchmen to aid him in battle. (use Knights from the MM)

Darkness. Hollow is a drow, and he is most comfortable fighting in the dark. As a Lair Action, he can summon shadows to darken the room, making it difficult for his enemies to see and increasing his own chances of landing a deadly shot.

Explosive Traps: Hollow is known for his love of explosives, and he could set off a trap that unleashes a deadly explosion in the room, dealing damage to anyone caught in the blast.

These explosives do 2d6 fire damage and have a radius of 15ft and immediately knock the character back 10 ft for every failed dex save of 12
