Description
World Turtles are the largest living thing in existence - even godly manifestations don't reach their scale. As their name suggests, World Turtles are so large that entire hemispheres might grow up on their shells, complete with oceans, continents, and life, hence why they are sometimes called the Zaratans of Rhymorra. Moreover, these turtles are fundamentally indestructible; their skin is tough enough to weather any assault, and they are large enough to ignore any predator.
Venerable Youth. As stoic as they become when they reach maturity, Baby World Turtles are playful and inquisitive, but still incredibly massive. Not even the Zaratan can grow as large as a Baby World Turtle. They love searching for adventure and playing with passing ships in Wildspace. Sometimes, they'll even toss asteroids at them to see if they'll catch them and throw them back. On the off chance that one accidentally throws an Eye Monger at them, the Baby World Turtle won't hesitate to kill it.
World Turtles are said to live for thousands of years, steadily growing larger and more sluggish. A World Turtle skeleton can be transformed into a spelljamming ship by placing a spelljamming helm inside it. When they grow to full size, World Turtles are too massive to take notice of other living things and drift through Wildspace, searching for a lifelong mate before returning to Rhymorra through a Void Jump to lay their eggs deep at the bottom of the seas. So far, none have ever been seen to die.
Galactic Calls. Even the smallest World Turtles can emit a bellowing cry through Wildspace at a subsonic frequency. Amazingly, this call echoes through Wildspace, traveling light years and deafening those using Sending Stones. With careful triangulation, it is possible to follow these cries to a World Turtle, in the same way the turtles use them to find each other in the vast expanse of Wildspace.
Revered in Rhymorra. When a World Turtle returns to Rhymorra, they return to lay their eggs. Even the great masters of the oceans, the Silence, Krabkens, Devil Sharks, and Megalodons do not intervene in the egg-laying process. World Turtles lay one egg in their lifetimes, so it is understandable that the creatures of Rhymorra respect them, as they knew that they came from a World Turtle themselves. When the egg hatches, the Baby World Turtle will remain in the oceans for several years before Void Jumping to Wildspace. During these years, they feed on Void Jellyfish and allow Planar Bore Wurms to clean them as they cannot clean themselves. The Great World Turtle is said to be the creature that brought all life to Rhymorra in the first place and is the reason why World Turtles are revered in Rhymorra.
