Detect Life. The banshee can magically sense the presence of creatures up to 5 miles away that aren’t undead or constructs. She knows the general direction they’re in but not their exact locations.
Incorporeal Movement. The banshee can move through other creatures and objects as if they were difficult terrain. She takes D6 force damage if she ends her turn inside an object/possesses.
Invisibility:
- Range: Touch
- Duration: Up to 1 hour
- A creature you touch becomes invisible until the spell ends. Anything the target is wearing or carrying is invisible as long as it is on the target’s person. The spell ends for a target that attacks or casts a spell.
Possession:
One humanoid that the ghost can see within 5 ft. of it must succeed on a D15 Charisma saving throw or be possessed by the ghost; the ghost then disappears, and the target loses control of its body. The ghost now controls the body but doesn't deprive the target of awareness. The possession lasts until the body drops to 0 HP, or when the ghost chooses to drop the players body. If at the end of the players turn the player doesnt get out they take D4 damage.
Toll The Dead:
You point at one creature you can see within range, and the sound of a bell fills the air around it for a moment. The target must succeed on a Wisdom saving throw or take 1D4 necrotic damage.

Posted Aug 17, 2021I used this monster tonight for a memorable session which took place during a thunderstorm on a remote beach. The Banshee flew between party members (all 2nd level characters) and possessed them one by one. I borrowed an old rule from Beyond the Supernatural that 3 failed attempts at possession will cause a spirit to lose it's anchor in the material and in effect banish itself to the netherworld. It all added up to very different encounter from the norm.
