Traits

Foul Awareness. The Befouler knows the alignment of any creature it can detect within 60ft of it.

Magic Resistance. The Befouler has advantage on saving throws against spells and other magical effects.

Tainted Waters. A creature that is submerged in the water within 30ft of the Befouler has disadvantage on Wisdom saving throws.

Actions

Multiattack: The Befouler makes two Claw attacks and uses Befoul.

Claw: Melee weapon attack, +6 to hit, reach 10ft, one target. Hit 9(1d12+3) slashing damage plus 7(2d6) necrotic damage.

Befoul: The Befouler targets one living creature within 30ft of it. The target must succeed on a DC 14 Wisdom saving throw or be magically Charmed. The Charmed creature behaves as if its alignment and goals were aligned with the Befoulers. It also regards the Befouler as an ally and a mentor to be heeded and protected. Although the target isn't under the Befouler's control, it takes the Befouler's requests or actions in the most favorable way it can.

The effect lasts for 24 hours or until the Befouler dies, is on a different plane of existence from the target, or ends the effect as a bonus action. If the target's saving throw is successful, they are immune to the Befouler's Befoul for the next 24 hours.

Description

Befoulers are among the ancient mind-bending creatures that live in the deep caverns of Rhymorra. Many scholars assume that Befoulers, at first, originated from the Far Realm. However, after they were found in countless numbers in Rhymorra, this belief has been shunted. They are a perplexing sight: a long, snake-like body covered in spikes, with a several feet-long mouthlike split that covers the majority of the bottom of their bodies. This mouth exudes foul mind-altering substances to the waters surrounding the Befouler.

Foul Corrupters. Befoulers get their name from their behavior. They can morally taint any creature with their telepathic whispers. They love cruelty for cruelty's sake and love to cause humanoids to behave in ways that don't fit their views. They prefer to corrupt good creatures and may go out of their way to torment them once they cross paths with one. They use their telepathic influence to alter the views of their target to align with them. After that, they may attack the target's companions with their new servant or merely watch from afar as their target betrays their allies.
