Description
Skeletons normally arise when animated by dark magic. In rare cases, some abnormal carnivorous plants instead take control of a corpse in order to strike some semblance of fear in their prey, and to give themselves a better method of attack.
Symbiotic Nature. Due to how these vines have evolved, they rarely grow away from corpses, and they cannot function as an assailant without a vessel to control because they need leverage and the extra weight of a body to pose any threat.
Inconspicuous Vine. These plants, usually growing into a vine-like form to better take control of their vessels, usually appear to just be normal vines either growing on vines or trees nearby corpses. Whenever some unassuming adventurer wanders by, they quickly extend out to control the nearest corpse to attack and eventually consume whoever they can.
Grave Digger. These vines often grow and spread through the graveyards of settlements, occasionally leading to the dead raising to life and invading whole civilizations to the dismay of the local clergies who had placed protections against undead around their cities, only to realize that they have no effect on these unique plants.
This phenomenon also occasionally occurs at the sight of a large battle where many creatures were slain, allowing for ample opportunity for these vines to grow and flourish in the dead.
