Illumination. The dragon sheds bright light in a 90ft radius and dim light an additional 90ft.
Legendary Resistance(3/day). If the dragon fails a saving throw, it can choose to succeed instead.
Magic Resistance. The dragon has advantage on saving throws against spells and other magical effects.
Magic Weapons. The dragon's weapon attacks are magical.
Scorching Aura. When a creature comes within 10ft of the dragon for the first time on its turn or starts its turn there, it must succeed on a DC 22 Constitution saving throw or take 55(10d10) fire damage. Once the creature comes within 5ft of the dragon or if it starts its turn there, the creature takes the damage if it hasn't already, regardless if whether or not it succeeded on the saving throw.
Multiattack: The dragon can use its Frightful Presence. It then makes three attacks, one with its Bite and two with its Claws.
Bite: Melee weapon attack, +14 to hit, reach 15ft, one target. Hit 19(2d10+8) piercing damage plus 9(2d8) fire damage.
Claw: Melee weapon attack, +14 to hit, reach 10ft, one target. Hit 13(2d4+8) slashing damage plus 3(1d6) fire damage.
Tail: Melee weapon attack, +14 to hit, reach 20ft, one target. Hit 12(1d8+8) bludgeoning damage plus 3(1d6) fire damage and the target must succeed on a DC 22 Strength saving throw or be knocked Prone.
Frightful Presence: Each creature of the dragon's choice that is within 120ft of the dragon and aware of it must succeed on a DC 16 Wisdom saving throw or become Frightened for 1 minute. A creature can repeat the saving throw at the end of each of its turns, ending the effect on itself on a success. If a creature's saving throw is successful or the effect ends for it, it is immune to the dragon's Frightful Presence for the next 24 hours.
Lava Breath(Recharge 5-6): The dragon exhales lava in a 90ft cone. Each creature in that area must make a DC 22 Dexterity saving throw, taking 64(11d10) lava damage on a failed save, and half as much damage on a successful one.
The dragon can take 3 legendary actions, choosing from the options below. Only one legendary action can be used at a time and only at the end of another creature's turn. The dragon regains spent legendary actions at the start of its turn:
Detect: The dragon makes a Wisdom(Perception) check.
Tail Attack: The dragon makes a Tail attack.
Wing Attack(Cost 2 Actions): The dragon beats its wings. Each creature within 15ft of the dragon must succeed on a DC Dexterity saving throw or take 15(2d6+8) bludgeoning damage and be knocked Prone. A Prone creature must make a DC 10 Dexterity saving throw at the start of each of its turns while Prone, taking 3(1d6) fire damage on a failed save, and half as much damage on a successful one. The dragon can then fly up to half its flying speed.
Description
Ancient Lava Dragons are some of the largest creatures in all of Rhymorra, being similar in size to the Tyrannax Rex and Behidra. They are the next evolutionary step in the Volvagia line. After reaching 500 years old, Adult Magma Dragons then bathe in the Lava Lakes of the Molten Caverns and stay dormant for about 6 months. After which, they arise as Ancient Lava Dragons, the magma that once covered them now heated up into molten lava. Although this process is painful and weakens the dragon when it molts, the Ancient Lava Dragon knows that it will molt once more into a path of its choosing; the Red Fire Dragon or the Pyroclastic Dragon. Most of them choose to molt into the Red Fire Dragon as there can only be one Pyroclastic dragon alive at a time. They embrace their elemental nature when they molt, allowing them to become one with the Molten Caverns. They are also one of the strongest beings in the Molten Caves and can easily build molten empires from the ground up. They stand in a similar state of power as Cinder Lords but are subordinate to Sala and her massive empire. However, when they molt into Red Fire Dragons, they unleash the fury of the Molten Caves on Rhymorra, hence why their numbers are kept low due to this animalistic transformation.
