Traits

Innate Spellcasting. Biddlegurf's innate spellcasting ability is Charisma (spell save DC 13). Biddlegurf can innately cast the following spells, requiring no material components:

At will: darkness, invisibility

1/day each: charm person, cone of cold, gaseous form, sleep

Magic Weapons. Biddlegurf's weapon attacks are magical.

Regeneration. Biddlegurf regains 15 hit points at the start of its turn if it has at least 1 hit point.

Lord of Deceit. Biddlegurf takes 5 radiant damage for every mimic slain within a mile, 10 radiant damage for every doppelganger slain within a mile, and 15 radiant damage for every hoard mimic within a mile. Additionally, Biddlegurf has immunity to all damage except radiant damage taken in this way when within a mile of any mimics, doppelgangers, or hoard mimics.

Actions

Multiattack. Biddlegurf makes two attacks, either with its claws or its glaive.

Claw. Melee Weapon Attack: +7 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 8 (1d8 + 4) slashing damage.

Glaive. Melee Weapon Attack: +7 to hit, reach 10 ft., one target. Hit: 15 (2d10 + 4) slashing damage, or 9 (1d10 + 4).

Change Shape. Biddlegurf magically polymorphs into a Small or Medium humanoid, into a Large giant, or back into its true form. Other than its size, its statistics are the same in each form. The only equipment that is transformed is its glaive, which shrinks so that it can be wielded in humanoid form.

Ascension. If Biddlegurf dies, its body turns to ash as if it were subjected to the disintegrate spell, and a wisp of blue smoke rises from the corpse, which becomes Biddlegurf - Ascended after 1d10 days.

Reactions

Mirage. (Recharge 5-6). When Biddlegurf is targeted by a spell attack or a ranged attack, and before the attack is determined to hit, he can use his reaction to teleport 30 feet. The attacker must make a DC: 16 saving throw with the ability they are attacking with (I.e. Charisma for a Sorcerer’s fireball, or Dexterity for a Rangers longbow). If they fail, they make their attack roll with a -10 penalty.

Delerium (Recharge 1-2). When Biddlegurf is the target of a melee attack, he can use his reaction to inflict a delerium on his attacker. The attacker must make a DC: 16 Wisdom saving throw. If the attacker fails, they make their attack roll with a -10 penalty. If the attacker succeeds, they make their attack roll with advantage.

Legendary Actions

Shimmer. Biddlegurf teleports 30 feet into an unoccupied space he can see.

God of Vengeance. Biddlegurf makes 2 claw attacks against a creature who dealt damage to him last turn.

Description

Biddlegurf was once the god of night, passion, and mercy, named Byaval. However, when he and his brother, Avadon created the world, he wanted full control. Avadon, who was the god of light, logic, and justice, knew that Byaval would be an unfit ruler, and he wished for the people to be completely free. Thus, he banished Byaval to a mortal form, and named him Biddlegurf, the god of dusk, illusion, and vengeance. Biddlegurf wants to destroy the world, and remake it in his own image.
Biddlegurf appears as an oni.

Note to DM's: Biddlegurf serves as a more difficult Oni fight. His Lord of Deceit ability allows for a very tense fight, because the mimics can be hidden in plain sight on the battlefield, making the players wonder why they are unable to harm Biddlegurf. I used Biddlegurf as a boss at player level 8, and then plan on using his ascended form, which I have also published, later on, for a recurring boss, similar to a lich.
