Description
The blue squirrel is extremely timid and runs at the first sight of danger, biting only when cornered. This small, furry creature somewhat resembles a rat, but it sits upright on its hind legs and has a large, bushy tail. These docile rodents thrive in temperate woods, where they eat mostly nuts, berries, and small insects. They are native to the areas of the High Forest. Squirrels are extremely intelligent creatures. They are known to put on elaborate food burying displays to deceive onlookers. The fake burials are to trick potential thieves, such as other squirrels or birds, into thinking that they have stored their food stock there. Any observers planning on taking the stash will then focus on the bogus burial site, allowing the squirrel to bury the real stash elsewhere safely.
These particular squirrels are extremely cute, to the point where one wants to pick them up and cuddle them. This can be extremely dangerous, as they explode on contact and also have a 30 percent chance of contracting Rabies. The reason the squirrels are like this is due to powerful magic that went awry. The blue color of the squirrels is due to some of the materials used in the spells that failed, combining together. The explosive nature of the squirrels is due to the original effects of the spells that were being cast. The original spells were being used to create gems, that were designed to explode upon forceful impact. They were supposed to be for a particular rogue who liked to use explosives as a distraction, but wanted something a little easier to carry than small jars packed with black powder, and wouldn't have a chance to explode if hit the wrong way. Needless to say, the wizard who cast the disastrous spell is no longer with us.
