Keen Sight. The albatross has advantage on Wisdom (Perception) checks that rely on smell.
Difficult Takeoff. The albatross can only take flight by taking the dash action and moving at least 15 ft in a straight line.
Long Distance Soaring. The albatross can fly great distances without stopping for a rest by gliding on updrafts with their enormous 6-foot wingspan achieving distances of nearly 10,000 miles.
Valkur's Curse. The albatross is the favoured animal of the hero-deity Valkur. As such, he uses the albatross frequently to indicate his mood, manifesting as an albatross or gull drifting on the wind currents to show his favour. Any creature that kills an albatross must make a successful DC 15 Wisdom saving throw or receive the curse. A cursed creature treats all d20 rolls of natural 20s as 1s instead. A cursed creature repeats the saving throw every time it completes a long rest, ending the effect on a success.
Beak. Melee Weapon Attack: +3 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 1 piercing damage.
Description
Albatrosses are majestic seabirds favoured by Valkur, the deity of the sea and sailors. These magical birds stand around 2.5 feet tall and weigh about 9 pounds. With their impressive flight abilities, albatrosses follow ships as they navigate the seas, serving as indicators of Valkur's mood. These avian guardians bring good fortune to sailors and possess an innate sense of direction, allowing them to navigate vast distances. They appear as Laysan Albatross or Black-footed Albatross.
