Skulker: Ashiok's Skulkers have a few special abilities:
- They can try to hide when only lightly obscured from the creature from which they are hiding.
- When they are hidden from a creature and miss it with an attack, making the attack doesn't reveal their location.
- Dull light doesn't impose disadvantage on their Wisdom (Perception) checks relying on sight.
- They are always under the effects of the Nondetection spell.
- They can use a bonus action to become invisible, this otherwise functions as per the 2nd level spell.
Become Invisible: Requires Bonus Action, otherwise functions as per the 2nd level spell.
Action Melee Attack: Tender Caress: Melee Attack: +8 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 7 (1d6 + 3) Psychic damage.
Sneak Attack: If an Ashiok's Skulker successfully hits with a Tender Caress attack whilst Invisible the target must make a successful Wisdom Save (DC16) or be affected by the confusion spell for 1 turn.
Description
Ashiok's Skulkers are servants to the strange entity called Ashiok. Like their Master they have heads that evaporate into smoke from the nose up but their legs are replaced by 8 tentacle like appendages which they use to fly through the air in much the same way as a octopus or squid would use theirs to swim through water.
Ashiok's Skulkers are telepathic creatures but if they need to speak out loud they can do so in any language the person they are speaking to could understand. However, their telepathic voice and their "out loud" voice are the same soft melodious whisper, they have never been known to raise their voices or shout and seem incapable of doing so.
When an Ashiok Skulker attacks it does so with surprising sensuality, they do not swing wild hay makers or use weapons, they merely lightly caress their target with the briefest of fingertip touches, this is called their Tender Caress and its mere touch causes mental pain and confusion.
Ashiok's Skulkers are able to disappear with a thought and they are immune to all Divination magic making them hard to locate, some Skulkers will seek out and aid a warlock who has taken the Thrall of Ashiok pact (see other homebrew), others may torment houses or hospitals or play the part of ghost or poltergeist. But whether they act at the behest of Ashiok or on their own demented whim is a matter for debate.
