Traits

Shapechanger. The aswang can use its action to shapechange into a Small or Medium humanoid it has seen, or back into its true form. Its statistics, other than its size, are the same in each form. Any equipment it is wearing or carrying isn't transformed to accomodate its new size or shape. An aswang reverts to its true form if it dies.

Ambusher. When the aswang hits a creature with an attack against a surprised creature, the attack is an automatic critical.

Sunlight Sensitivity. While in direct sunlight, the aswang has disadvantage on attack rolls, as well as on Perception (Wisdom) checks that rely on sight.

Actions

Multiattack. The aswang makes two claw attacks or one blood drain attack.

Claw. Melee Weapon Attack: +5 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 12 (3d6+3)

Blood Drain. Melee Weapon Attack: +5 to hit, reach 15 ft. The aswang's retractable proboscis shoots out from its mouth toward a target. Hit: 7 (1d8+3) piercing damage and the aswang attaches to the target. While attached, the target is considered grappled. Also while attached the aswang can choose to use its blood drain ability as a bonus action on subsequent turns and without making an attack roll. When used in this way the blood drain attack deals 9 (2d6+3) piercing damage to the target, and the aswang gains half as many hit points. The target may use its action to make a DC 14 Strength (Athletics) check to detach the aswang. While attached the proboscis has an AC of 10, and 5 (1d6 +2) hit points. If the proboscis is severed while attached to a target the aswang suffers 1d10 piercing damage from blood loss, and immediately attempts to flee. Also, if a creature is moved more than 20 feet away from the Aswang, the probscis detaches from the target. A creature that dies from the blood drain ability will rise as a zombie 24 hours later, but a remove curse spell can prevent this. A severed proboscis will regrow after 1d6+4 days.

Description

An awang is a tortured creature from the outer planes that cannot survive without feeding on the blood of living creatures. A typcial aswang will assume the form of a commoner in a large city to avoid drawing attention, and break into the homes of others to feed on them at night. An aswang must feed every 20-30 days to stay strong, but can go up to 60 days without feeding. Aswang are solitary creatures that avoid gathering in groups, and only stick to cities to stay close to their food source. An aswang that stays in an area too long will start to draw attention, as those killed by their blood drain turn to zombies, drawing attention to their feeding routine and patterns.
