Shapechanger. The packlord can use its action to polymorph into a wolf-humanoid hybrid or into a dire wolf, or back into its true form, which is a medium sized human. Its statistics, other than its AC and size, are the same in each form. Any equipment it is wearing or carrying isn't transformed. It reverts to its true form if it dies.
Keen Hearing and Smell. The packlord has advantage on Wisdom (Perception) checks that rely on hearing or smell.
Multiattack. (Hybrid Form Only). The packlord makes three attacks: one with its bite and two with its claws (hybrid form).
Bite (Dire Wolf or Hybrid Form Only). Melee Weapon Attack: +8 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 21 (3d10 + 4) piercing damage. If the target is a humanoid, it must succeed on a DC 17 Constitution saving throw or be cursed with werewolf lycanthropy.
Claws. (Hybrid Form Only). Melee Weapon Attack: +8 to hit, reach 5 ft., one creature. Hit: 7 (5d6 + 4) slashing damage.
Heavy crossbow (Humanoid Form Only). Ranged Weapon Attack: +7 to hit, range 100/400 ft., one creature. Hit: 10 (1d10+4) piercing damage.
Description
A baleful transformation occurs when a werewolf becomes the leader of his or her pack in Barovia: Mother Night grants the creature the ability to become an oversized version of its lycanthropic hybrid form and allows it to transform into a terrible giant wolf when fully transformed. Thus the packlord becomes both alpha in its pack and an apex predator in the dark Svalich Woods.
