Chilling Presence. Any creature that starts its turn within 10 feet of the wendigo must succeed on a DC 15 Wisdom saving throw or be frightened until the start of its next turn.

Fear of Fire. The wendigo has disadvantage on attack rolls and ability checks while within an area of bright light.

Actions

Multiattack. The wendigo makes three attacks: one with its claws and two with its bite.

Claws. Melee Weapon Attack: +7 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 12 (2d6 + 4) slashing damage.

Bite. Melee Weapon Attack: +7 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 8 (1d8 + 4) piercing damage plus 7 (2d6) cold damage. If the target is a creature, it must succeed on a DC 15 Constitution saving throw or be paralyzed for 1 minute. The target can repeat the saving throw at the end of each of its turns, ending the effect on a success.

Chilling Howl (Recharge 5-6). The wendigo emits a bone-chilling howl. Each creature within 60 feet of the wendigo that can hear it must succeed on a DC 15 Wisdom saving throw or be frightened for 1 minute. The frightened creature can repeat the saving throw at the end of each of its turns, ending the effect on a success.

Description

The wendigo is a malevolent and monstrous creature that haunts the frozen wilderness, driven by its insatiable hunger and dark desires. It stands tall on elongated legs, its emaciated form covered in tattered, frost-covered fur. Its elongated limbs end in sharp claws, perfect for rending flesh. The wendigo's visage is one of terror, with its eyes burning with an unholy light and its jagged teeth ready to feast on the living.

As a creature born of dark magic and cannibalistic practices, the wendigo is cursed to roam the icy lands forever, seeking to consume the life force of those unfortunate enough to cross its path. It is a creature of fear, and its chilling presence can send shivers down the spines of even the bravest adventurers.

The wendigo's ravenous hunger for flesh drives it to attack any living beings it encounters. Its bites carry a numbing cold, capable of freezing its victims in place, leaving them helpless to escape its grasp. The wendigo's chilling howl is a haunting sound that instills fear into all who hear it, paralyzing them with terror.

Fire is one of the few things that can deter a wendigo, and it fears the light that banishes the darkness that surrounds it. While within an area of bright light, the wendigo's malevolent power weakens, making it more vulnerable to attacks.

The legend of the wendigo serves as a cautionary tale of the dangers of embracing darkness and consuming the flesh of the living. To encounter a wendigo is to face a creature of malevolence and horror, a foe that embodies the primal fear of the unknown and the desolate wilderness.
