Until a creature takes an action to douse the fire, the target takes 3d10 fire damage at the start of each of its turns

Legendary Actions

The Ancient Fire Cat may use a legendary action out of three actions only in reaction to an attack on anybody.  It recharges at the end of the round.

Pounce (Costs 1 Action): Jump in at most 30 ft. leap in any direction.  If it lands on a creature they are thrown 5 ft. in a random direction.  During Pounce, Ancient Fire Cat cannot be targeted by an attack of opportunity.

Fire Wall (Costs 1 Action): The Ancient Fire Cat summons a large wall of fire in front of it to block one ranged attack.

Legendary Roar (Costs 2 Actions): The Ancient Fire Cat lets out a tremendous roar, giving  all allies 2d4 + its charisma modifier temporary health points.

Planar Rip (Costs 3 Actions): The Ancient Fire Cat taps into the planar rip it created and rolls a d20, which summons a:

1-10 Fire Elemental

11-18 Magma Elemental {Homebrew: ajoiner13}

19-20 Terrnis {Homebrew: ajoiner13}

Description

Regal: The race of Ancient Fire Cats are very proud creatures, that crave the following of other elementals.  Some have amassed enormous followings of all types of beings, not just elementals (Mostly elementals, however).

Lairs: Ancient Fire Cats are not extremely fond of the Fire Plane.  They can eventually gather enough power to rip into the Material Plane and create their lair.

Zarin: A well known Ancient Fire Cat that has one of the largest followings.  There is a cult that worships him, but he was sealed away in a prison within the Fire Plane, that no one knows the whereabouts of, supposedly.

Feline: The Ancient Fire Cats can look like any type of big cat; lions, tigers, panthers, etc.  They have a fiery appearance, but seem to be more solid than a regular elemental.

Lair and Lair Actions

An Ancient Fire Cat's lair is centered around the rip that allowed it into the Material Plane.  It is generally a large cave that has been created out of rock from the Fire Plane, so it is mostly very red.  There are always statues of different beasts, but usually, a Red Dragon, an Ancient Fire Cat, a Fire Elemental, and a Tessnir {Homebrew: ajoiner13}.

Lair Actions

On initiative count 20 (losing initiative ties), the Ancient Fire Cat takes a lair action to cause one of the following effects; the Ancient Fire Cat can’t use the same effect two rounds in a row:

  • Four columns of fire burst up in four different places the Ancient Fire Cat wants to appear.  If it hits a creature, it does 3d10 fire damage.  Roll a DC 15 Dexterity saving throw to take half damage.
  • The rip is causing other problems, so time shifts slightly, everyone re-rolls initiative and restart from the top of the initiative. Any damage done to the Ancient Fire Cat is reset.  (Can only be used once)
  • The statues all open their mouths and magma pours from all of them into a 10 ft. square.  If it hits a creature it does 3d10 fire damage unless they make a DC 16 Dexterity saving throw, which they avoid the magma.

Regional Effects

The region containing a legendary Ancient Fire Cat’s lair is affected by the rip to the Fire Plane, which creates one or more of the following effects:

  • All plants burn up and die, and all the dirt is turned red and cracked within 600 ft.
  • The sky is always red and filled with black smoke within 500 ft.
  • If a creature that is not made of fire or fire-like substances, or is resistant to fire and they have been within 500 ft. of the lair, they must make a DC d20 + the Ancient Fire Cat's charisma modifier constitution saving throw.  If they fail, they gain one point of exhastion.

If the Ancient Fire Cat dies, these effects fade over the course of 2d4 days.
