Breath Weapons (Recharge 5–6). The alatreon uses one of the following breath weapons:

Fire Breath (Fire Element Only). The alatreon exhales fire in a 90-foot long, 5-foot wide line. Each creature in that area must make a DC 23 Dexterity saving throw, taking 91 (26d6) fire damage on a failed save, or half as much damage on a successful one.

Ice Breath (Ice Element Only). The alatreon exhales an icy blast in a 60-foot cone. Each creature in that area must make a DC 23 Constitution saving throw, taking 91 (26d6) cold damage on a failed save, or half as much damage on a successful one.

Bonus Actions

  • Each creature that starts its turn within 20 feet of the alatreon must succeed on a DC 23 Constitution saving throw or have its movement speed reduced by 10 feet until the start of its next turn.
Legendary Actions

The alatreon can take 3 legendary actions, choosing from the options below. Only one legendary action option can be used at a time and only at the end of another creature's turn. The alatreon regains spent legendary actions at the start of its turn.

Attack. The alatreon makes one Tail or Elemental Blast attack.

Lightning Surge (Costs 2 Actions). The alatreon calls down lightning bolts to strike down around it. Up to four creatures the alatreon can see within 60 feet of it must succeed on a DC 23 Dexterity saving throw or take 27 (6d8) lightning damage.

Explosive Flame (Costs 3 Actions; Fire Element Only). The alatreon exhales a burst of flame at a point it can see within 90 feet of it that explodes in 30-foot radius sphere. Each creature in that area must make a DC 23 Dexterity saving throw, taking 42 (12d6) fire damage on a failed save, or half as much damage on a successful one.

Glacial Spikes (Costs 3 Actions; Ice Element Only). The alatreon causes three 5-foot radius, 20-foot tall cylinder spikes of ice to emerge from the ground at points it can see within 90 feet of it. Each creature within a spike's area when it appears must succeed on a DC 23 Dexterity saving throw or take 22 (5d8) piercing damage plus 22 (5d8) cold damage. Each spike remains until the start of the alatreon's next turn.

Description

Alatreon, the Blazing Black Dragon, is know as a symbol of destruction. People refuse to utter its name in fear that the beast would respond. It’s ability to control the elements allows it to adapt mid-fight, shifting its elemental powers.
