Event Horizon (1/Day). Pengriff can magically emit a powerful field of gravitational energy that tugs at other creatures for up to 1 minute as long as he maintains concentration (as if on a spell). For the duration, whenever a hostile creature starts its turn within 30 feet of Pengriff, it must make a DC 18 Strength saving throw. On a failed save, it takes 11 (2d10) force damage, and its speed is reduced to 0 until the start of its next turn. On a successful save, it takes half as much damage, and every foot it moves costs 2 extra feet of movement until the start of its next turn.

Momentary Stasis (4/Day). Pengriff can magically force a Large or smaller creature he can see within 60 feet to make a DC 18 Constitution saving throw. On a failed save, the creature is encased in a field of magical energy until the end of Pengriff’s next turn or until the creature takes damage. While encased in this way, the creature is incapacitated, and its speed is 0.

Description

Pengriff Sanguine is a haughty and reclusive wizard who thinks himself better than most others. He pursues magical power through the study of arcane texts, has travel the world searching for esoteric tomes, trained lesser wizards, and has even collaborated with the few colleagues he considers peers to create new spells. Pengriff has spent years learning the lore of the multiverse. He has scoured manuscripts, studied scrolls, and listened to the greatest experts on various subjects of interest. Pengriff’s efforts have made him a master of the arcane arts, specifically the mastery of space and time.

Due to his noble airs, people often assume that Pengriff is a member of the nobility. He is welcome in high society, and people assume he has the right to be wherever he is. The common folk make every effort to accommodate Pengriff and avoid his displeasure, and people of high birth treat him as a member of the same social sphere. Pengriff can easily secure an audience with any local noble should he need to.

Pengriff’s arrogance is boundless, and his sense of superiority extends even to the gods. For a brief time he attempted to hold Mystra, the goddess of magic prisoner to syphon her power for himself. He even seeks to cheat death itself through use of a clone he keeps ready just in case he should face an early demise. As Pengriff is prone to say, “anything is possible if one is simply prepared for it.”
