Vampiric Bite. Melee Weapon Attack: +6 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 2d4 + 2 slashing damage. If the attack roll is higher than 15, the dragonfly regains hit points equal to half the damage dealt.
Hypnotic Dust (Recharge 5-6). The dragonfly releases a cloud of hypnotic dust in a 15-foot cone. Each creature in that area must make a DC 12 Constitution saving throw. On a failure, a creature becomes stunned for 3 rounds. A creature can repeat the saving throw at the end of each of its turns, ending the effect on itself on a success.
Description
The Giant Crimson Hypno Dragonfly is a fearsome creature to encounter. Its bizarre appearance and peculiar abilities make for a unique challenge. Its hypnotic dust can disable foes, while its vampiric bite can replenish its own vitality, making it a resilient adversary.
Lair and Lair Actions
Lair: Crimson Somnus Dragonflies make their lairs in deep, secluded forest groves with a nearby water source, preferably a calm, clear stream or pond. The groves are filled with vibrantly colored flora that matches the dragonfly's own crimson hue, helping it blend in with its surroundings when at rest. At the center of the grove, the dragonfly has a nest made of resilient plant material mixed with its own hypnotic dust, creating a safe and mesmerizing home.
Lair Actions:
On initiative count 20 (losing initiative ties), the Crimson Somnus Dragonfly takes a lair action to cause one of the following effects; it can't use the same effect two rounds in a row:
- Hypnotic Flora: The dragonfly stirs the hypnotic dust in its nest, causing the surrounding flora to shimmer and sway. Each creature of the dragonfly's choice that can see the flora must succeed on a DC 15 Wisdom saving throw or be charmed until the end of their next turn.
- Forest Camouflage: The dragonfly causes the vibrant flora to shift and change, blending with its own crimson hue. The dragonfly becomes invisible until it attacks, moves, or until its concentration ends (as if concentrating on a spell).
- Misty Retreat: The dragonfly stirs up a thick mist from the nearby water source, heavily obscuring the area in a 20-foot radius around it until the end of its next turn. It can use this mist to hide or retreat.
