Description
The Bauchan is a mischievous and enigmatic fey creature, known for its capricious nature and its talent for both causing and resolving trouble. Standing about 3 feet tall, the Bauchan's appearance is that of a stout and wrinkled gnome-like humanoid, often dressed in earthy and tattered clothing. Its eyes twinkle with a mix of curiosity and cunning, and a playful grin seems ever-present on its lips. The speak with a rich and musical burr in their voice.
Whether offering assistance to weary travellers, playing tricks on the unwary, or lending their aid to farm work, the Bauchan's motives remain a delightful mystery. Its unpredictable and ever-changing demeanor are well-known and they can often be seen walking country roads in pairs hand-in-hand.
In their true form, the Bauchan wields a shortsword with surprising skill and agility, showing a willingness to defend itself or aid those it deems deserving, nor are they averse to giving people a firm bite on their leg or whatever body part is within their reach.
However, its most unusual trait is its ability to transform into a goat, seamlessly shifting between forms. In goat form, it may appear as an ordinary farm animal, but its watchful eyes reveal an intelligence beyond that of a simple creature. It will often use this form to escape from trouble.
