Stonecunning. Whenever the fir makes an Intelligence (Investigation) check related to stonework, it is considered proficient in the Investigation skill and adds double its proficiency bonus to the check, instead of its normal proficiency bonus.

Inferior Sunlight Sensitivity. While in direct sunlight, the fir has disadvantage on attack rolls, as well as on Wisdom (Perception) checks that rely on sight.

Innate Spellcasting. The fir's innate spellcasting ability is Intelligence (spell save DC 13). It can innately cast the following spells, requiring no material components:

Actions

Fingers. Melee Weapon Attack: +2 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 3 (1d4 + 1) piercing damage.

Charm Gaze. When a creature that can see the fir's eyes starts its turn within 30 feet of the fir, the fir can force the creature to make a DC 13 Wisdom saving throw if the fir isn't incapacitated and can see the creature. If the saving throw fails by 5 or more, the creature is charmed for 1 minute. Otherwise, the creature is immune to the fir's charm gaze for 24 hours.

The charmed creature regards the fir as a friendly acquaintance. While charmed in this way, the creature is fascinated by the fir's descriptions of its clockwork projects and inventions and cannot take hostile actions against the fir.

Shapechanger. The fir can transform into a hedgehog, or back into its true form. Its statistics are the same in both forms, except for its size. Any equipment it is wearing or carrying isn't transformed. It reverts to its true form if it dies.

Description

The fir are a clever, cunning breed who are fascinated by clockwork, machinery, and other works of precision and engineering. They are tinkers and inventors who delight in fine work and quality craftsmanship.

In their humanoid form, fir are a slender, almost spritelike race of Arak with very, very long fingers so thin that they taper almost to needle-like points. They are noted for their wide intelligent eyes, pale skin, and long silver hair. Fir dress in various shades of purple, ranging from indigo to violet.

Fir have the ability to change themselves into hedgehogs. They can spend up to twelve hours a day in this form, changing back and forth at will, so long as they do not exceed the total duration in any twenty-four hour period.

The fir are fluent in the common language of all Arak. They tend to speak in long. flowery prose, especially when discussing craftsmanship and inventions.
