Traits

   •    Grumpy Nature: The baby Owlbear has advantage on Wisdom saving throws against being charmed and advantage on Charisma (Persuasion) checks made by creatures other than its bonded owner to interact with it.

Rage of Loyalty: When its bonded partner enters a rage, the baby Owlbear is inspired by its owner’s fierce determination. The Owlbear also enters a “Rage of Loyalty,” gaining temporary hit points equal to half its hit point maximum (rounded down) and advantage on Strength checks and saving throws. While in this state, the Owlbear deals an extra 1 damage with its attacks.

Actions

   •    Multiattack: The baby Owlbear makes two attacks: one with its beak and one with its claws.
   •    Beak: Melee Weapon Attack: +5 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 7 (1d8 + 3) piercing damage.
   •    Claws: Melee Weapon Attack: +5 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 6 (1d6 + 3) slashing damage.

Intimidation Roar (1/Day): The baby Owlbear emits a cute but surprisingly fierce roar. Each creature of the baby Owlbear’s choice that is within 20 feet of it and can hear it must succeed on a DC 10 Wisdom saving throw or be frightened for 1 minute. A creature can repeat the saving throw at the end of each of its turns, ending the effect on itself on a success.

Description

Strybock, a simple yet hardy Goliath barbarian, encountered the baby Owlbear during his time at the arch mages tower. While exploring the boring rooms full of books and shiny things, Strybock heard a soft, distressed growl emanating from a corridor, he followed the sound to a dusty storage room. Inside, he discovered the Owlbear hatchling, its grumpy nature evident as it huffed and grumbled at him, looking weakened and its head stuck in an Armillary. Seeing past the initial warning, Strybock extended a gentle hand, showing the creature kindness and earning its trust by gently releasing its stuck head. From that moment, the grumpy baby Owlbear became fiercely loyal to Strybock, forming an unbreakable bond as they faced the world together.
