Adult Owlbear

Grumpy Nature: The adult Owlbear has advantage on Wisdom saving throws against being charmed and advantage on Charisma (Persuasion) checks made by creatures other than the bonded partner who try to interact with it.

Loyal Guardian: When the bonded partner is within 10 feet of the adult Owlbear, the Owlbear gains a +2 bonus to its AC and saving throws.

Rage of Loyalty: When the bonded partner enters a rage, the adult Owlbear is inspired by its owner’s fierce determination. The Owlbear also enters a “Rage of Loyalty,” gaining temporary hit points equal to half its hit point maximum (rounded down) and advantage on Strength checks and saving throws. While in this state, the Owlbear deals an extra 3 damage with its attacks. It ends when the bonded partner is no longer in a rage, the maximum hit points then return to normal.

Intimidation Roar (1/Day): The Adult Owlbear emits a more formidable roar. Each creature of the Owlbear’s choice that is within 30 feet of it and can hear it must succeed on a DC 14 Wisdom saving throw or be frightened for 1 minute. A creature can repeat the saving throw at the end of each of its turns, ending the effect on itself on a success.

Territory Roar (2/Day): The Adult Owlbear can emit a territorial roar that asserts its dominance over its surroundings. Each creature of the Owlbear’s choice that is within 30 feet of it and can hear it must succeed on a DC 14 Wisdom saving throw or become frightened until the end of the Owlbear’s next turn.

Menacing Roar (1/Day): Each creature of the Owlbear’s choice within 30-foot cone must succeed on a DC 14 Wisdom saving throw or be compelled to focus their attacks on the Owlbear for 1 minute. A creature can repeat the saving throw at the end of each of its turns, ending the effect on a success. While affected by this ability, a creature’s is so distracted by the challenge so much that attacks are at disadvantage if they target any creature other than the Owlbear,  Additionally, the creature cannot willingly move farther away from the Owlbear and must use its movement to approach the Owlbear if it is not adjacent to it. This roar echoes with primal dominance, compelling adversaries to confront the formidable might of the Adult Owlbear head-on.

   •    Multiattack: The adult Owlbear makes two attacks: one with its beak and one with its claws.

   •    Beak: Melee Weapon Attack: +7 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 13 (2d8 + 4) piercing damage.

   •    Claws: Melee Weapon Attack: +7 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 11 (2d6 + 4) slashing damage.

   •    Smash (Recharge 5-6): The adult Owlbear targets one Medium or smaller creature which it grapples. The target must succeed on a DC 16 Strength saving throw or be grappled then lifted up and over the Owlbear, to be slammed into the ground, taking 18 (3d8 + 5) bludgeoning damage and becoming prone. On a failed save, the target must roll another Strength saving throw. If it fails, it takes an additional 18 (3d8 + 5) bludgeoning damage and the Owlbear lifts and smashes them again, this process repeats up to 4 times in a row in the same turn or until the target succeeds on the saving throw.

Guardian’s Wrath: When the adult Owlbear sees its bonded partner take a critical hit, its protective instincts kick in. It gains a temporary boost of strength (+2 modifier) until the end of its next turn.  Additionally, the Owlbear can use its reaction to move up to its speed towards the creature that dealt the critical hit against its owner. On its next turn, it gains advantage on attack rolls and deals an extra (1d6 +2) on successful attacks against that creature. It’s beak, claws and smash attacks all benefit from the +2 strength modifier.
